Suggest you latest msg writers go back to page one (you are now on pp2 of this thread) and read from the top. Most of what you are saying shows you are missing some good scoop already posted.

Service Contract from DiamlerChrysler

I leased my 300C. Since I was not going to have this vehicle long-term, I didn't want to bother with doing all of the maintenance myself. (b.t.w., This is the only way to get the maintenance done right.) The best option was the "Ultimate Convenience Care" package from Service Contracts Corporation (division of DiamlerChrysler). At the time of the sale, I was told that this package contains every scheduled maintenance item and extends the 3 yr./36k mile warranty out to my lease end (39 mo./39k mile).

Imagine how surprised I was when I was reading through the fine print once the plan's paperwork arrived. The spark plug change (required to maintain warranty) on the 5.7l is not included. I'm estimating this operation to cost about $160 in parts and labor.

Who else out there bought a service contract for thier 300C?
Has anyone ever changed out the 16 spark plugs in one of the new 5.7's (truck or sedan)? How difficult is it to do?
Other than this being the highest priced scheduled maintenance item on any sedan I've owned (except for valve lash on the SHO), that is, other than money, why else would this item be excluded from the service contract?
Other comments?

Thanks,
Matt

Well well well, spark plugs every 30K for $160? Too bad the svc. contract conveniently excludes this. The X5 has all svc included in the base price oil, lights, wiperblades, everything for 4/50. BMW is so generous that this "free" maintanence amounts to 3 oil changes (every 15K) and everything else would be covered by the warranty. When we needed free maintanence was in the days of adj. valves, plugs every 15K etc and this "free" yang was nowhere to be found. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the gesture by BMW and afterall it is built into the price. They charge $50 for a tire rotation!!, I get it done at Wal-mart for 6$ and they torque the lugs to 80ftlb!!! and recommend me to come back at 50 miles to re torque-even tire shops don't do this, I check the torque myself btw. I will change my own plugs in the C and torque them properly something I'm sure the dealer won't do. If compatible with the MDS I will use the Bosch platinum 4 and never change them again as long as I own it (planning for 7-8 yrs 75K, maybe less maybe more)

There's a thread listed under Chrysler extended warranties in this forum which explians a lot of the info, who, what, where, evrything you need to know.
I'm picking up the warranty, no doubt. I've never had a bad vehicle, but it's not like it use to be. It's much more complicated and the technology is out there.
Do some home work it will pay off.

Thanks! Found it - why it is in "Visual Mods" is beyond me.

My dealer is offering the extended warranty for $1395 and include FREE oil changes. Originally, I had planned on using synthetic oil in my car, but if they are going to change the oil for free, I may stick with conventional oil.

I will probably have this car less than 7 years anyway. What do you guys think?

Suggest both last posters go back to pp 1 of this thread (this is pp3). You have missed some important info. Your prices cited for the warranties described appear to be very high.
