What Tire Pressure?

What tire pressure was your 300C delivered with? Mine was 26 psi and right pulled like crazy. I raised them to 34 and it drives much better now.

I got my car on Aug 27. I didn't check my tires until about 2 weeks after i got my car and they were between 29-30 all around. I raised them all to 32 but still have the same old right pull.

30 PSI is the recommended pressure for my C with the Conti tires. That should be spot-on perfect. It's an engineered figure.

Factory specs work for me, as well. Digital gauge a must. Car is sensitive to pressure settings.

Always set mine to the correct pressure which is shown on the label on the drivers door

Go with the factory pressure, lots of Explorers flipped with improper inflation. Joey, get the alignment and possibly the bolt kit done at the dealer. Mine was excessively crown sensitive bulit 6/1 after the 4/25 date all this was supposed to be fixed at Brampton. After the bolt/cradle adjust mine now drives "normal", follows the crown still but no more so than the X5.

The 30 on the door is the minimum pressure. I always run at 34 for better tire life, etc. Of course the ride is slightly firmer.

What ever gave you the idea that the pressure posted on vehicle doors is the minimum pressure? The pressure listed is what is required in order to get the best performance, safety, and mileage, period.

Of course this statement doesn't apply to the older Explorers.

Assuming you are running the factory wheels and tires, I agree completely. The number is not some arbitrarily arrived at figure. It is a precise figure arrived at through a combination of engineering and mathematics, adjusted based on the manufacturer's test-track performance data.

I know we all have years of experience driving and owning cars and have developed opinions and beliefs about cars and their systems. But things have changed dramatically in the automotive industry, and things are much more absolute. When the manufacturer makes a recommendation, you can rest assured they have clear and convincing reasons for so doing.

System design, manufacturing technology and our litiginous society combined together have simultaneously evolved to the point where tolerances and specifications have become critinal in operation, safety and longevity of the vehicle and its associated systems. Deviation from the manufacturer's recommendations are therefore ill advised, and will frequently if not usually come at a price related to performance, safety or reliability, or a combination of these factors.

Sound advice is to heed what the manufacturer says.

I hate to disagree with you on the flipping part of the Explorer problem. Those trucks should never have flipped with just the left rear tire going down. If it had been the front I could have understood, but not the rear. A lot of innocent people lost their lives because they were poor drivers. I have seen the tests that were conducted by independent labs other than Firestone and Ford and control was not lost by any of the "Pro" or "Non-Pro" drivers. But blame was placed and a lot of innocent people in my home town lost their jobs because the plant that made most of the tires was closed. If anything Ford was the one that had the problem as it was always the drivers side rear that always blew and created the predicament.
