please tell me i didnt get ripped off......

last week i received a card from the dealership, that i purhcased my 300c from, advising me i could come in for a $20.00 oil change. i only have 800 miles on my baby since bought in 11/05. with a build date of 9/05, i figured i would have the oil changed. this morning i went for my oil change, and after the service, was presented with a bill for 40.00. i was advised after the service, that because i requested 5w20 oil, the bill was more. i was also informed that because the 300c uses 7 quarts of oil, that the $20.00 charge for a oil change would not apply to me. i told the service mgr. that i was happy with the service, but that it would probably be the last time i would have my vehicle serviced there. he gave me a song and dance, about the higher cost of 5w20, as compared to 10w30. do you think i got ripped off, or is this a normal fee for oil change.

Synthetic is more $$. The dealership never gave you a complimentary oil change? I received 12 free oil changes with mine. Damn, that doesn't sound right.

I am sure the stealership knew what you bought and should have known what the vehicle needed. They should have put on the $20.00 oil change, "synthetic oil and more than 5 quarts may be higher price". My five star sent me the same thing for the first oil change to become aquanted with the service deparment my first "free" oil change. At the bottom of the sheet it stated "some vehicles and synthetic oil not included, additional fees may apply" Still not cool for "free" oil change, but at least they stated it.

What does the card say? That is the offer from the dealership. When you went there and took your car and you gave them the coupon, you accepted their offer and those are the terms of the deal. More than likely, the coupon will say that the actual charge may be more for some vehicles and oil types.

If they did not offer to compromise on the price due to the misunderstanding, how easy will they be to deal with on more significant matters?

I always bring my own oil because the dealership doesn't stock the Mobil 1 5W20. Purchase of the oil is the largest expense. To do the service they charge me only $16, and I think $7 of that is for the filter.

this is ht part that bothers me the most. they didnt offer to make an adjustment, and the oil they put in was not synthetic oil, just 5w20. i think they beat me out of $20.00;;;;;;

If you go to any Auto parts store like PEP Boys Auto Barn AiD or what ever, all the standard oil in all grades is the same price. ABout 2.79 per quart. SO thats BS what they told you about the oil grade. Second, they should have only adjusted the price based on 2 extra quarts!!!!!!!!! Not $20 extra dollars!!

I don’t think that is right. I used to pay $23 (included oil) for my 5.7 at my dealership. Besides, you purchased a very expensive car from these people, had a coupon, like it was going to break their bank to honor the coupon. I would bitch to the GM and see what happens-all they can say is no........ if not go elsewhere.
