First 300C issue

I have an 06 300C with 12800 miles on it. This is the first issue on this car, and I have been very happy with it. While on the rack for service, the Service Manager was giving it an in depth inspection of his own, and he noticed the start of a slight weepage of differential oil coming from the passenger side half shaft seal. It was very slight, just wet, not enough to drip. I was impressed with his attention to vehicles in his shop. Told me to drop it off, and they would take care of it right away.

And this is NOT a five star dealer. Past sins from the former dealership owner takes a long time to leave the publics mind.

The whole Five Star dealer stuff is crapp. I went to a 'Five Star Dealer' and I received .001 star performance. I'm still dealing with this joke of a dealership on an un-resolved issue. I don't want to name any names but their initials are Airpark Chrysler in Scottsdale.

I'm with you in the fact that you need to find someone that you are comfortable with and stay with them.

Moose.

Five star schmive star, that rating is entirely worthless. Sounds like you have a very good mechanic regardless of his "star" rating. I'll take a guy like this any day over most of the 5 star idiots out there.

Great catch by the service team. I know what you mean about different dealerships. I go to a 5 Star with an awesome service/sales staff. However, 30 minutes away is a non 5 start dealership with crap service. They were given an allocation for an SRT8 before my dealership was given one and they marked it up 10k. Go with one you like and keep them as Moose said.

Hey Moose, is there a dealership in your area that you trust? If so maybe we can stop in and thank them for you since we will be out way on the 29th.

Seal leakage update

Well, after reading through the search here on differential leak, I concluded that there seemed to be about a 50/50 split between a seal issue, and the diff vent issue. I let my mechanic know about it and suggested checking with a mirror to see the vent area, and low and behold, it is from the vent not the seal.

He talked to STAR, and found that they did not have a fix, but they did say that it seems there have been a lot of seal replacements which was curious to them. They suggested an anti foaming agent as they had no additional suggestion. My mechanic told them that wasn't the issue, thanks but no thanks, and that he would come up with a fix and let them know how.

Told me that he had some type of diff vent part on order, and that he was going to extend the vent approximately one foot up via a flexible vent extension. I knew what he was talking about as we have done that for years on 4x4's to get the vents up high to prevent water intrusion.

In this case the effect would be to provide an extended vent line to allow whatever is going on to relieve itself without puking out any residue on top of the diff. WIll let you know how it works out.

I had the seal leakage too the first week I had my 300C. Dealer fixed it (took about a week at a 5 Star Dealer). Since then, the car has been trouble free. Have 2000 miles on it now.

Who gives the 5 Star Rating anyway-Chrysler themselves?

The following should help explain the program.
