What is the 30K CHRYSLER Recc'd Service?

I dropped off the C this am for a replacement of the rear speaker under warranty. I timed it so I also needed an oil/lube, so I could get the loaner and avoid two trips to the dealer.

Anyway, the guy "reccomends" tune up $155, some kind of fuel injector service (which was a soft sell after I snorted at 155 to change 16 plugs) and tranny flush/filter. While I keep cars for a long time, put lots of miles on them, and have direct experience with tranny problems as the miles stack up, tranny flush seems extreme for 30K highway miles, no dusty conditions.

After I declined the service, I was at the rent a car and got curious as to what the CHRYSLER recommendations are. But since I had left the manual in the C, I was forced to check the Neon manual in the rental car. In that one, it's SIXTY THOUSAND, and only if it's used "as a cab, for deliveries, etc".

Then I remembered you people, someone's always got an answer here.

So what does the manual say about these services, particularly the tranny?

Also, anyone change their own plugs? I've changed probably 15 sets of plugs, from my pinto the my Chevelle, never had enough of a problem to justify paying someone else to do it. Any trick with the Hemi?

Lastly, ASSuming this is a dealer recc as opposed to a Chrysler one, what's the consensus on how ethical this "reccomendation" is?

Thanks all.

Schedule B in the '05 manual says the tranny fluid and filter change should be at 60K miles IF trailer towing and/or taxi/police/delivery service.

This might help with plug info...

Tune-up help 300C

Ethical?

well being a chrysler service advisor I would just recomend the l.o.f tire rotation, tune up, air and in cabin filters. the trans is due at 60k but the rear diff is due at 48k

Like the Original Poster stated - every $30k miles. The 300C has 37k and no tune up yet. The old lady won't stop driving it. It still starts and runs like day one.

The tranny is supposed to be "filled for life", meaning no service required, but few Techs are going to buy that one, especially tranny guys. Wont matter to DCX if it is realistic or not, they will be long out of warranty buy the time they find out. The "injector" service was probably actually the emissions service, flush out the intake, injectors, and add an additive to the tank. DCX doesnt really have a recommendation for that in the service schedules, but it is their kit and IIRC they do recommend it about every 30k.
