Automatic Seat Back on exit quit working

This is pretty much the first issue I've had with this car - - 2005 300C, built February '05.

Decided to clean and condition the leather seats since the car is 14 months old, and the driver's seat in particular was looking a little dingy - - I've got the light greystone seats (not my first choice.....)

Anyway, I reclined the seats all the way to to clean them thoroughly, then to access the rear seat I moved the fronts all the way forward. Now that I'm done (seats look great!) the driver seat will not move back when I turn off the key and the steering wheel does not move up. The memory buttons (1 and 2 ) both work, and the seats can be moved any direction just fine using the controls on the side of the seat. In EVIC personal settings, this feature is set to "on", but I turned it off and then back on and still don't work. Any ideas?

keven,

You're very welcome. However, it's all because the fine members on this forum contribute a wealth of information that we might someday need as you did this time.

So, you're back to basically having a car with no issues!

Hell yeah! this forum is the S**T

And since this all started with me cleaning and conditioning my seats, I should mention that the ZYMOL leather cleaner and leather conditioner (2 part process) is REALLY good!

ZYMOL leather cleaner: part # Z507
ZYMOL leather conditioner: part #Z509

I highly recommend; can't compare against anything else since this is the only one I have tried, but it definitely works.

Available at NAPA AUTO PARTS. Probably available everywhere else too but your local NAPA store is most likely independently owned by a local business man, rather than a chain so your money stays in your community (for whatever that's worth)...... oh by the way I should say I work for a local NAPA store in my town so I guess I'm biased.......

I love this forum, I was dreading having to take my car in for this........ok gotta go again it's WAY too nice outside to be sitting in here typing on the computer !

I haven't used Zymol but have been very pleased with the Lexol Leather Products. I can't believe, though, that you waited 14 months to use the products on your leather seats!

lol yeah I know, I should be ashamed

BUT In my defense; My car only has 4900 miles on it and is garaged when I don't drive it to work; it was stored for the winter (basically from November until the beginning of March - - though I did get her out and drive her on 'nice' days )

AND, while the car is 14 month old, I bought her used at the end of August (from my Dad) with only 1100 miles on her. He had ordered a 300C SRT8 back in January 2005 but was unsure whether he'd actually get it so in March he bought a Magnesium 2005 300C (he's 71 and figured he might as well enjoy what's available while he waited for the dealer to get allocation for his SRT8!)

Well at the end of August 2005 his Silver fully loaded SRT8 arrived! SO, he made me a deal I could not pass up on his "used" 2005 300C - - so I really only drove it a couple months before winter hit and I parked it and started driving my beater ('90 Accord). Now that the weather is nice and I'm driving the "C" a lot again I realized the leather did need some attention.....

Thanks again for the heads up on that thread Bruno.

Oh no, keven! Do we have another 'garage queen' on this forum???? Get out there and put some heavy mileage on your C. You have only averaged 350 miles per month over the 14 months!

I give up

I will disable all this memory stuff now. I'm struggling with the memory settings
for more than a year now, I tried all the instructions posted on this forum and
also my DC dealer is unable to solve this mystery.

basically the car recognizes the keyfob, but not every time.
every 2nd or 3th time when I step into my car, I have to press the (1) button
to force loading my settings.... grrrrrrrr...

yeah, and my seat also doesnt glide on exit anymore.. I will leave seat, steering wheel and mirrors in fixed position now, as in the 70ies..

Oh no, not a garage queen - - remember I didn't own it for the first 5 months of it's 'life' -- and for the 3 months or so that the roads are icy they put sand and magnesium chloride (a corrosive de-icer) on the roads, plus the worry of having a recent SoCal transplant slide into me (they seem to think if they buy a fancy new 4x4 SUV that they can stop on a dime in the ice and snow ) so it just makes sense to me to let my $800 Honda Accord take the abuse of winter. The "C" is driven regularly now but I only drive about 5 miles each way to work.

You think I'm bad - - my Dad's SRT8, delivered last August, now has 1500 miles on it !
