RESOLVED - Transmission Slip and Rough Shifting

After reading here about multiple people having issues with their tranmissions, I finally went to the dealer. The three problems I had were:

1. when cold, engine would rev high and car wold barely move
2. shifting was rough when accelerating slowly (grandpa mode)
3. car got stuf in 2nd - popping to N and back to D made the tires squawk

Note: number 3 only happened once

My car has 21,500 miles on it, is a 2005 300C, production date it 7/20/04, and I beleive has a 508 transmission? I have it written down at work, I'll update this tomorrow.

Anyhow, they effectively rebuilt my tranny. I have a huge list of seals and disks that they replaced. The repair notes state that they had to drop the entire transmission, tear it down, and rebuild it. WOW! Such a new car, and already a new tranny? Will it ever be the same?

I estimate that this would have been an extremely expensive repair. I have a warranty still, so it only cost me 12 days without a car (long duration due to the holiday weekend - long weekend, many repair techs out of the shop, etc.).

That's my story, please feel free to share yours (good or bad)!

Cheers!

Wow, what did you do to the trani. LOL. That sounds like a water in the trani from the weak dip stick seal issue that I've heard many people have had in the early models. Go get those baby's checked out before your warranties up...

Oh? I wasn't aware of a weak dip stick seal! I'm not a mechanic, but I know my way around enough to break things! When checking the dip stick, are there any signs I'm looking for? Perhaps just a lose fit? Or perhaps worn seal on the dip stick.

I didn't see a dip stick on the list of things changed out, but it must have been. I wonder if they gave me something that fits properly? I guess I could just order a dip stick from a later model and put the seal on my stick?

p.s. I've never used the word dip stick so many times and not been referring to a buddy of mine.
