Whistling noise

I am having this whistleing noise when my car get up to about 110 or 120 is this just the air passing by. It is coming from my front driver side. Has anyone else had this problem. I was wondering if it was something simple because the dealerships are booked for 2 months. thanks

There have been several posts on a whistling noise. Some have reported it from the windshield area of the car and others have reported it from the sunroof. HERE (post #5) is a thread that discusses a test you can do if the noise is coming from the windshield area.

I too have this same problem, but have not bothered to take it in yet.

No whistling, but the wind noise around the door/mirror seems to be getting louder. I need to research how to fix this. Replace door rubber weather stripping? I doubt that will fix it. Seems too easy of a solution.

Another strange occurrence. When I my KW's and lowered my car, the wind noise increased. Somehow the aerodynamics/wind factor changed after lowering my car, which has made it nosier.

Windshield Whistle - Service Bulletin 23-023-04

Just found a DCX Service Bulletin for this teapot/morse code windshield whistle. #23-023-04. It describes a "windshield header buzz or humming sound"...I like my description better, but oh well.

Talks about it being more likely to occur in warmer temps, when the rubber molding material is more flexible...and thus more likely to vibrate as wind passes over it. That would also explain why I never heard it during the winter. Seems like a relatively easy fix for the dealer...basically just applying a sealant.

Hope this works for those of you having this problem.

I don't think that TSB will fix this issue... I think this is different.

I agree with you. I read that TSB, but it didn't sound like what we were experiencing.

It sounds like this has been an ongoing issue since early 2005 with MANY 300's and no one has a fix for this yet? How annoying! I can't take it anymore!

Joey, try spraying the rubber door seals with silicone lubricant. They dry out and shrink on cars after a couple of years.

Good idea. I'll try that tomorrow. I have a can of silicone spray lubricant I use about once a year to lubricate the rubber seal around the sunroof. Otherwise the sunroof starts to squeak.
