Common 300C Issues

I'm thinking of getting an '05 C is the next month or so. I'm wondering what are the most common problems that owners are having w/ the C so I know what I should keep my eye open for while shopping? Thanks!

Excessive rear tire wear. LOL!!

Tranny leaks and rear end seal leaks although not very common are certainly things to look for.

OEM Tires suck!

I have not had any leaks (16k miles)

Memory seat forgets sometimes.

No other problems.

Some of the problems I would be looking out for.
1) Right pull/lead. There is a TSB to fix the right pull/lead, but it doesn't always fix the problem.
2) Squeaks and rattles. Some are fixable under TSB, but I wouldn't get a car that has squeaks or rattles.

If you buy a used car, make sure you process the paperwork to transfer the warranty. I believe the warranty has to be transferred in 30days, but I could be wrong. I think there is a fee, like $100 or something similar, to transfer the warranty.

Here is a link to the Warranty info. and the correct info about transferring the warranty to you. It costs $150, not $100. Another thing, make sure you get a record of all maintenance performed to ensure you meet the requirements of Section 9.1 below, which was copied from the Warranty link.

Click on the Warranty Information link.
http://www.chrysler.com/owners/index.html

F. Transfer of Powertrain Warranty
To transfer the Powertrain Warranty, you must have an
authorized Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer process a
"Transfer of Coverage Application" for you. The cost
for this service is $150. You pay this fee directly to the
dealer. You must apply for a coverage transfer within 30
days from the date you buy the vehicle.

G. No Coverage to Second Purchaser if
Transfer Fee is Not Paid

If you do not transfer the remainder of the 7 year/70,000
mile Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage and pay the
transfer fee, or if you are the third (or subsequent) owner
of the vehicle, the Powertrain Limited Warranty described
in this Section 2.2 does not apply to you.
H. Some Commercial Vehicles Are Excluded
Vehicles used as a police vehicle, taxi, limousine,
postal delivery vehicle, ambulance or rental vehicle
are not covered by the 7 Year/70,000 Mile
Powertrain Limited Warranty.

9.1 General Information
It’s your responsibility to properly maintain and
operate your new vehicle. Follow the instructions
contained in the General and Scheduled Maintenance
Service guidelines in your Owner’s Manual. Regular,
scheduled maintenance is essential to trouble-free
operation. If there is a dispute between you and
DaimlerChrysler Motors Company LLC
("DaimlerChrysler") concerning your maintenance of
your vehicle, DaimlerChrysler will require you to
provide proof that your vehicle was properly maintained.
For your convenience, DaimlerChrysler has
prepared a Maintenance Logbook which is
included in your Owner's Literature Package. You
should use this Maintenance Logbook to keep
track of scheduled maintenance, either by routinely
having the repairs entered in your Maintenance
Logbook, or by keeping receipts or other
documentation of work you’ve had done on your
vehicle in your Maintenance Logbook.

My Service issues have been this:

1. Motor on Sun/Moon roof replaced... Had to hold in button the entire time to close.

2. Leak in back right and left window seals... resealed...

3. Cigarette Lighter in dash fuse blown 4 times - had dealer give me about 10 fuses after 3rd time... only blows when i plug more than one device in, so i only plug radar into it since that lighter starts up with car... i use the one in the center console for other things... it never seems to overload (knock on wood)...

4. Driver side door factory sound group II Bose 6x9's blown - replaced under warranty - yes, they replace all blown speakers free of charge under warranty... apparently Dalmer-Chrysler has repeated issues with speakers blowing b/c of placement inside doors...

5. I haven't brought it in for this one yet b/c of lack of time, but with high bass, my passenger-side front door rattles... not a speaker issue they said while they turned on my DRL's for a quick look, but a door seal issue... they say they need to redo the seal since it stops when u hold door... will do this when i don't want to hear it anymore... heh... not too bothersome yet...

that's all my issues to date... i drive an 05 300C one of the first few...

Thanks. So there weren't any serious mechanical problems for the first model year?
