The mildew smell rings a bell - was just reading the Ford Expedition forum
(my other vehicle) about AC problems - the mildew smell usually means the
unit is freezing up - happens when weather is extremely hot.

had a friend tell me that too. i'll relay the message to the tech when I take it in. Hopefully it'll be fixed for good this time. And yes it has been EXTREMELY hot, about 110 the other day.

I had the same problem and also had to engage the recirc in order to keep the temp consistent and it does seem to work better but still takes some time to get going. With the external thermometer having issues are these systems tied at all?

I had this problem with my Ford Expedition. I now turn off the air a little before I reach my destination. Sometimes I turn on the heat for a real short time. No mildew smell. I know they also sell a spray that can be sprayed in the inlet that kills the mildew spores. I know that Accura had this problem and this was their solution.

can't get an appointment till tomorrow afternoon. however, i checked myself and it is the harness that plugs into the compressor. the clutch isn't engaging, but if i push on the harness it engages temporarily. So if anybody has their a\c cut out on them, check that harness. I'll let you know if the dealer replaces it or what.

A/C Problem Solved

It's been a few days now and the a/c still works. Apparently there was a short in the wire right off of the wireharness. They just cut and soldered the the harness back on. Hopefully it's fixed permanently this time.
