Dealer wouldn't do 3.61 upgrade

Had complained to dealer of Surges, took car in & told them to Flash it & to upgrade to 3.61 7/27/04. He told me they would install any upgrades they have. Mine has the Feb. one. After 2hrs they told me all was done, before I left I checked to see if it showed the 3.61, well it did not! Went back in there & told the, The manager told me they couldn't do an upgrade to that because the flash didn't specified so. He didn't even have 3.61 in the computer. The flash updated other things, the service bulletin reads, This Blletin supersedes technical service bulletin 18-031-04, dated July 8, 2004, which should be removed from your files. Flash: Driveability Improvements MIL Illumination Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0116,P0139,P0159,P0197,U110B or U1402. He told me that was all he could do. Took car home & in the garage when I was on idle, I noticed a clicking sound & a slight rev., it won't stay idle, slighty rev & makes a clicking sound, that wasn't there before. Have to wait till Monday to call the Dealer again. Does anyone have the right code number to give the Dealer? Any help will be appreciated.

Been there....done that.....
Also see my saga with this at... EVIC software update

The solution in my case...go to another dealer. Some are more skilled/trained on the new 300 series cars.

If there is a click accompanying a drop or rise of revs that usually would indicate some load (like A/C pump) going in and out, causing a subtle (but noticeable?) change in revs. Maybe you don't have a software problem so much as a climate control problem. If your system is in Auto mode, it will mix in air from the A/C pump even if it isn't hot outside, for purposes of defrost and to keep the pump lubed and free of odor.
I know that's an awfully simple explanation, but try to idle with your climate control in all off...see if the problem remains. -Good luck.
