cracking noise from dash/windshield

anyone hear a popping/cracking type noise from the dash or windshield? It happens one time, then you don't hear it again unless the car was sitting for a while. It happens w/in a minute or less of starting the car, so I don't think it's a "warming up" issue.

Thanks,

Chonger

Sure, there's been a thread on this before, but that thread provides no answers.

Does anyone know what this is, a fix, or even if we need a fix?

It scares the heck out of me, but I feel better knowing that it's not only my car doing it.

Mine sounds like it is coming from my moon roof?

But I don't HAVE a moon roof.

Sounds like the windshield, but that may be an assumption based on the fact that it sounds exactly like something hitting the windshield.

Windshield Cracking

I have heard it also. It happens rarely and only when the car turns, never just moving forward.

Yes...this happens to a majority of 300 owners, whether you have sunroof or not.

It normally happens within the first 3 minutes of turning the car on, and normally only when I make that first right turn out of my neighborhood.

You're right, it kinda does make you feel better that you're not the only one experiencing the problem, and because so many people are experiencing it, it must be something with the design of the car...(think how revolutionary it is) and this is the first year of this car. Maybe they'll have it ironed out by next year???

But I guess I take the good with the bad. That one second of pop for a evening of fun driving is a reasonable sacrifice
