Question Problem with linking Remote Key RESOLVED

New board Member and owner here! Have tried unsuccessfully many times to have the remote key linked to the memory system. Have owned a 2001 300M with this feature and no problems when I did that some years ago. I followed the instructions in the manual with no success. Even tried both keys! No luck. Has anyone else had this problem? Your advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Bob

Welcome to the board robertr...I had the same problem. My key does not link to my settings automatically. I tried a number of times right by the book. I gave up. It really doesn't matter too much. As for the headlight winking Midnight, that's a potential wiring problem. Get it looked at!

I had the same problem. The system in the car would say that it was learned(or whatever it says. Can't remember verbatim), but it wouldn't work. I have a Genie with Intellicode II transmitters. Don't know if it's actually a problem with the car or the Genie system. Oh well.

I had to use the "learn" button on my garage door unit for the Home Link feature to work.

Every one is different. Check the docs for your unit on how to program another transmitter.

With mine I needed 2 people, lol You have to press and hold the homelink button in the car and the learn button at the unit mounted on the Ceiling of the garage at the same time. My arms are not long enough. :-)

Hey Guys I had no problem with the "Home Link System" for my garage door, I'm referring to the key transmitter. I would really like it to function,my wife also drives the 300C and it is a very convenient feature! The memory seats and all.

Does her key work properly? If so, you may have a bad or improperly installed battery. Remove the small screw on the back and pry it off, check the battery. Better yet, let the dealer do it; at this point it's his still his problem.

Also possible that you didn't set up your key for the car. It must be done separately. The manual tells you how. You may need both keys if yours key really has a bad battery.

RobertR,

I've got the exact same problem. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to work either. They ordered a new "memory module" or something of that nature to fix it. It was on back order but recently came off. They expect it in next week and I have an appt on Thursday to get it replaced.

I posted this problem on edmunds and someone responded that they had trouble at first but when they ran through the linking sequence very fast, quicker than the 10 seconds that the manual states, they got it to work. Didn't work for me.

Anyone out there get theirs to work? I was wondering if the system gives you any indication that the programming took, as the homelink system does.

The home link system in the car can be programmed into your home security system by adding a wireless bridge made by Interlogics ( the old ITI) and then the home link module from Interlogics. I have my 300M programmed in which opens my garage door, controls my lights, and turns on or off my security system. This can be added to any hardwired system or wireless system. You can only program one car, but if you have two, another home link module can be programmed. If you sell the car then the new car will override the old car. I sold these systems up for over 10 years, and this works slick as a whistle and gives great range.
