Unhappy Dealer reluctance the norm?

Aloha, I have been reading the threads for awhile but this is my first post. My wife and I ordered our 300C May 26th just before leaving on a vacation to the mainland. Since new cars are slow to get to Maui I ordered the 300C sight unseen. Actually Maui just got it's first 300's last week, 9 in total at the Dollar Rental. Of course none of them are 300C's but it is nice to spot a 300 once in awhile.

My question is how do you get the VON number from the dealer? I called my sales person and asked for it. He seemed hesitant to ask the person in charge of ordering.

Of course I am excited about the order and I am making every effort not to be a pest about it. You wouldn't think one phone call in 22 days is too much. (Not that I am counting) Is expecting some communication after they took the $2000 down payment unrealistic?

How was the flow of information from the dealer for other people that ordered 300C?

MIA(Mahalo in advance)

We ordered our Black 300C about 7 weeks ago. Finally got it last week.

I tried to not hassle them too much because I knew they would let me know what was happening. But i did call to get an occasional status update. i.e. is it on the line yet? etc. I was only told 2 things. when it was being built and when it was put on the train. I never got a VIN from them until I recieved the car. But I also never asked.

My dealer only asked for a $500.00 ernest money to hold the car. plus 1000 off and another 1000 off with the current Chrysler finance promotion going on (2000 off total). Not sure if that is a great deal but considering most dealers around here (portland Oregon) wanted 5K over MSRP I feel i did alright.

Anyway. It seems you are being very reasonable and a call every now and then should not be considered annoying by your dealer. After all if they treat you well now you will more then likely deal with them in the future or better yet let your friends know about them.

Thanks,

Mike

Had A GREAT experience!
The usual Dealer I have dealt with did not have a car I liked......color and options so I called all the area Dealers and found a Magnesium with all the options I was looking for. Just so happens the owner of this Dealership had been driving that car for a few days (190 miles) and put it back in the showroom a few hours before I called. I purchased the car under the Friends and Family program Chrysler has over the phone. Have purchased most of my cars this way even before seeing them. 1999 Prowler, 2001 300M, 2002 Sebring Convertible, this car was traded in when the 300C was purchased.
In the Greater Cincinnati area there are about 8 Chrysler Dealers. Lots of compitition!
The salesman I dealt with on the 300C wanted to know why I came to him knowing I have owned many Chrysler's and never bought from him before, really has tried hard to keep me happy to earn my future business.

Still no VON number

Is there a way I can look up my VON number? The sales person assures me the order was placed without a problem. But when I asked for the VON he said he would try to get it and call me back, still no phone call after two days.

Purchased at $1500 over invoice less any Chrysler rebates at time of delivery. I guess that doesn't buy you good customer service.
