Mine came on randomly the other day when I started my car. I pulled over, shut the car off, started it up again and it was gone. :o

Mine was on one day, and then after than I lost complete power to my steering wheel controls, including blinkers, wipers, telescope and tilt of wheel, radio controls, EVIC Controls, etc etc.

I brought it into the dealer and they replaced the steering wheel control module and that cleared everything right up.

When this happen to y'all did you notice a little difference in starting up the car when you first started up the car that day?

When I say difference I mean, a rough sound start up from the starter. Sounded like the car said "I don't want to start up, oh I guess I will." Like a hesitated start.

This has come on for me each time I was on the dyno. The rear tires were spining, not the fronts, AND the brake was not pressed. It cleared up after I started driving a few feet with all 4 wheels turning.

ESP/BAS stands for Electronic Stability Protection/Brake Assist System. One of the check I'm sure is that there are pulses detected at each wheel when the vehicle is being driven. When mine was only seeing 2 of the 4 (on the dyno), the system threw and warning light.

I've seen this luminate each time I've been working on my stereo system and drained the battery. In my case, it seems to be triggered by a voltage drop. Even with the voltage restored to the battery and the car driven, the warning light will stay on until the car has been shut down and restarted.

Same thing happened to me, Nolmscheid. EAS BAS light came on, ten seconds later entire steering column went dead. Dealer also replaced the steering wheel control module. All is good now
