CAN YOU SAY "PCM"? How 'bout bulging carpets?

Last evening, at just shy of 5500 miles on the odometer, shazam, bigtime problem pulling on to the expressway! Punched the gas pedal to the floor to blend into traffic and plop - DESIREE fell flat on her butt!. No noises, no power. I let up on the pedal and things came back to life. I was already heading to the dealer to have them look at the front carpeting which seems to be bulging upward in the middle, so I continued on. Enroute I punched it two more times with the same result.
Had to leave her to be checked out. Got a free loaner (apparently available for 300C owners who have to leave their cars for service).
So I got the call this afternoon - it's the PCM, or powertrain control module, and it may be Monday or Tuesday until the part comes in and things are fixed. They hadn't yet looked at the bulging carpets. The only comment was someone thought it was the sound deadening material. Well yeah, that's all that's supposed to be under the carpet. The question is WHY?!
My theory (you may have guessed it based on my earlier concern for the sunroof being left open accidentally) those carpets got wet when someone left the sunroof open during DESIREE's earlier life as a demonstrator. I'm sure no one will ever admit to that, but I am going to probe for an answer once they fix it.
Stay tuned for results of both situations.

Crappy you have to deal with this, but as an FYI for you and others not sure of this...

Pretty much all 300, Crossfire, and Pacifica owners can get free loaners, not just C's.

dixie, I know your not kidding about your dealer's comments - but your kidding, right?!
If my dealer told me that...I'd have to...geez, I don't know what I'd do.

DC did not make a 340hp/390tq car to be driven around like a moped. Did the service advisor say that or was it the service manager? I'd find the name of your regional DC rep and have a chat. If you car does not perform as it should, it is their job to fix it, not to lecture you on how to drive. Find a new dealer, as I wouldn't trust that one to get bugs off my windshield let alone service my car.

I've given up fighting with my dealer over this issue. All they do is shrug their shoulders and say "can't help ya". Even called DC and complained. Did no good. time for me to find another dealer.

Nah, the traction control NEVER felt like what I experienced. I only had the car for 1000 miles and it was great with the traction control on, and almost scarey with it off. Last week as a test I came out of two successive traffic lights in the pouring rain with my foot reaching the floor in about 3 seconds. The car went straight as a shot and never skipped a beat. Yesterday she fell flat on butt butt! One of my three episodes was on dry concrete starting at 55 MPH. No way traction control was involved, except if it was faulty.

Well then they've won! But I don't know why they would even argue the point. I haven't reviewed the section of the owner's manual that discusses your rights in such a matter, but I do know the dealer IS NOT THE FINAL WORD! Tell'em you want an appointment with the district service manager the next time he comes around. Have them all take a ride in your car, and then take a similar car off of the lot and take a spin. Then let them tell you to drive normal to solve your problem. If a car doesn't accelerate smoothly flatout through the gears something ain't right!
Alternatively, you might try out-accellerating a semi bearing down on you as you merge from a ramp. You just might loose that arguement too. It could be your last lost arguement!

Desiree,

Any chance the Sunroof mod you added to the overhead console contributed somehow to this episode?

Just curious.
