Refueling Problem

Anybody out there having a problem refueling there 300C. Mine has to be held at the slowest rate at the pump to keep from the pump being kicked off. The local dealer says they have had several cars with this problem, and they do not know how to fix it.

Please advise, Thanks

No problems with mine. But we don't have those sorry fuel vapor recovery pumps here in GA.

Not sure what the exact config is for the 300, but somewhere there has to be a vent hose in place that allows air in the tank escape as fuel is pumped in. You probably have some blockage in the vent hose or vents in the fill tube that is causing air bubbles to travel up the fuel tube and cause enough backpressure to trigger the pump shut off.

Think about pouring water out of a gallon jug. Tip it too far, and the bubbles start slowing the flow, tip a little less, and the water comes out smoothly. Same concept for filling your tank, but in reverse. Pumping slowly allows enough room in the fuel filler tube to accomodate fuel going down and air coming out.

I noticed this on Monday when I took delivery of my 300C. when filling up for the first time it clicked off about 10 times, before finally able to actually fill it up all the way non-stop. Gas station attendant, says you have to give it a bit of time for the gas tank to "burp". Then she spent the rest of the time commenting how beautiful it was and wanted to know what it was. Not meaning to stray to new topic...but, so far the 300C has appealed to all, young and old, male and female, black and white, etc...All positive

Gas

That sounds like a problem with the gas station. Here in Chicago gas pumps in the "hood" always do this. Every time you press the handle hard the gas stops. You either have to hold the gas handle very lightly or keep squeezing the handle over and over and over again.

I wish it was a certain gas stations problem. I have 2000 miles on this car with refuels at 6 different stations. All with the same problem.
I guess it goes back to the dealer, which would be easier if the damn car was not so fun to drive. Plus since I got 22's for it I feel like a celebrity when I drive it. Thanks for the replys. I will follow up when I get it fixed.
