Exhaust smell in car

Does anyone get a nasty exhaust smell in there car after flooring it? Whenever I floor it, even on the highway and then I slow down I get a nasty smell from the exhaust into the car. This is with even with all the windows closed, and no I do not have the filtration system. The dealer said that they had people complain about that. No suggestions from the dealer.

When you say the "dealer", are you talking about the person who writes your work order? If so, that particular individual sounds very incompetent (not surprising as most of these employees have very little training, are not technicians and have zero authority).

Anytime you "smell" exhaust fumes inside a car, a big RED FLAG needs to go up! Something is definitely wrong! Your health and perhaps your life is at risk.

This is not a common occurance with these cars and is an indication that there could be a leak of exhaust fumes into the passenger compartment - which in our cars is very tightly sealed. Carbon monoxide gas is a killer. Your car needs to immediately go on a hoist and be pressure tested for leaks.

Speak to the service manager at the dealership. In the meantime, if you must drive the vehicle, make sure all the windows are down.

What you are describing is not normal and not a common problem.
Follow what Northern Rider said.

And I'm happy for you . . .

37 years ago, I lost a very close friend from CO poisoning. He had been working on my street rod, with the motor running inside a closed garage in the wintertime. He had an exhaust hose running outside - but there was a small leak in the hose . . .

I found his body the next morning . . .

How many miles are on your car?

Are you still under factory warranty?

What do you consider a WOT run?

How many WOT runs have you done?

If you post up that info, some of us can help get to the bottom of the problem.

What do you consider a WOT run? PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I ALSO GET THE ODOR EVEN AT SAY 3/4 GAS.

How many WOT runs have you done? ABOUT 15 TIMES ALL FROM 40MPH UP.

If you post up that info, some of us can help get to the bottom of the problem.

Let's see if we can eliminate brake odour. First, make sure your brakes are bedded in correctly.

This info on BEDDING BRAKES from our resident brake expert will help. And - it is a lot of fun to do.

Once that is out of the way, we can step through some other procedures.
