dipster, I absolutely agree with you on this one, but some time ago everyone decided there were too many stickys and I, being the 'newbie' in this case, have no idea yet what the guidelines are for making a thread a 'sticky'. I need to look into this for you.
No prob! Edit away!

Congrats on the 'promotion'!!

I remember seeing this fix way back. Didn't give much thought because I didn't have my car then. I too was having the same symptoms with the 6.1L. I decided to check this out again, did the fix last week and I think it works on this engine as well.

There were a few confusing issues for me however, but maybe I just didn't read thoroughly enough. The first was whether to go slow or fast. I chose to go slow. The second thing I've seen mentioned is waiting for the lights to go out. I don't know if the SRT8 is different than the 5.7 Hemi, but if I turn mine to the on position, there's no POST check lights at all. If I actually start the car, it does the POST and they all go out after a few seconds. And lastly, I didn't notice anywhere that you had to wait 10 seconds before turning the key off.

This fix is mentioned in quite a few different threads, including links to other forums. All of these may have been discussed elsewhere, but it would be nice if someone who's in the know could give a detailed list of what to do.

Just did it. One question. I thought all the lights (except the engine light) had gone out and proceeded to press and release the pedal. As I did this I noticed one last light (not sure what it was) over on the left near the engine light went off - a little delayed from when all the other lights went off. IE, I depressed the pedal before all lights had come on and than gone off. Think that is an issue? Was going to do the procedure again but did not want to mess with things.

I am with you Rambit, it seems like the instructions are easy, but i will see once I try it out today. I definitely have an issue with my car falling on it's face sometimes. For the record, I do everything from the driver's seat right? I don;t have to disconnect or do anything else? Thx.

Bob, no problem, you can't mess anything up. Simply start the car, shut it off then start the procedure again...

Yes JV, everything from the driver's seat, no disconnects, but I did close all doors... not sure if this is a necessity or not... just FYI
Here is the procedure again, hopefully more clearly stated:

Procedure: To overcome hesitation at acceleration- for the Hemi V-8 only

1) Turn key to ON position (not ACC), but DO NOT start engine.... now wait a few seconds for the dash lights to clear

2) slowly & steadily press accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and then slowly release at same rate. NOTE: This step must be done ONE TIME only to ensure accelerator pedal position sensor calibration has been learned by the ECM

3) Leave ignition switch ON for a minimum of 10 seconds. This will allow the PCM to learn the new electrical parameters
And, by request, this thread is now a "sticky"

He is the problem I have. Let me know if this procedure should help. When I accelerate from a stop there is a 2-3 sec lag before I start to move. It is really noticeable after backing up then trying to drive. I've nearly been nailed in a parking lot when someone else starts to backup before I'm out of the way. That 2-3 sec seem like an eternity when someone's about to back into you.

If you have a C, then yes, this is exactly the type of situation that is corrected by the procedure... it can't hurt so give it a shot!

Thanks for the quick reply HEMEEE.

I must be doing something wrong then. I tried a few times, I tried pressing the petal very slow and different time pressing it very fast. Didn't notice any difference.
