400 miles and I've got a Check Engine lite...

I noticed it on my way to lunch this afternoon that my 'Check Engine' light is on. I've had the car for less that 2 weeks, and it has less than 500 miles on it!

I have 2 theories:

-Something is wrong with the charging system: This morning, and this afternoon it kinda seemed like it was cranking a bit slow, but it could just be from the cold.

-I'm wondering if it has something to do with the huge snowfall we had this weekend, possibly a sensor or something came unplugged with all the snow dragging on the bottom of the car or something.

I'll know soon enough, taking it to the dealer in a few minutes...

One very common cause of throwing a "code". Check that your gas cap is on tight.

Turns out that the code was for 'low battery voltage', and the battery was bad. How the battery went bad in 400 miles is beyond me? But, it is now fixed, and all is well.

It's a Chrysler, would you expect anything else? Sorry, I couldn't help it, bad IIK920.

Glad to hear it wasn't serious and repaired quickly. It might have caused an inconvenience but you'll look back and be thankful for those little annoyances if you can avoid the big ones.

Don't let it spoil the enjoyment of driving your brand new vehicle.

Yea, I'm glad I took it in; would have sucked to have to get a jump and all that crap.

Fortunately my mom is the manager of the dealership that I go to, so she had me in-and-out in no time. I was joking with the service writer though, "I should have bought that Lexus, aye?"
