Warning - fuse #24- 60amp

This information is for 06 if other years have the same mistake please let me know so I can record it;

In front Power Distribution Center (PDC) fuse cavity #24 may contain a large style 60 amp fuse - this is correct ONLY if your vehicle is all wheel drive otherwise it is a mistake. This fuse should not be used in the front PDC as a spare under any circumstances in non AWD vehicles (you may use it as a spare in the rear PDC any 300). Your owner's manual may list cavity #24 as blank and this is also a mistake if your vehicle is an AWD model.

So are you saying this fuse for NON AWD cars is not hot then and it's just sitting there? If so, I don't see the problem if there's no power to it.

I'd agree that if it isn't hot it won't cause a problem - but I haven't tested it yet. The problem is it's not good practice to have a spare large amp fuse in a fuse box with less rated fuses. You wouldn't keep an old glass 40 amp fuse in your fuse panel if the highest rating needed was 20 amp would you? The more I check their wiring diagrams the more errors I'm finding - this should be a great concern to all of us.

I think I mentioned in your other thread from yesterday that seeing as we're into the 4th year of production, I find it strange that no one has experienced any issues with this in the past. If it was that serious a safety issue we'd have heard of fires by now don't you think? I'm also near positive that whoever makes the PDC's preloads all the fuses the same and the only ones that would be hot are for whatever options each car has.

Thanks for the info, 1badv. As a gearhead with 45 years of mucking around with cars, it's good to know I've got a nice, clean, dry 60 amp spare sitting there.

Can get you out of jamb, if you need a temp fuse, where a 15 amp might keep you stranded at the side of the road . . .

I ussually jam a fork in the fuse box when I blow a fuse.

Just kidding obviously!
