I have the P0520 code. I also have a slight coolant leak, I think from the thermostat housing. Looking at some of the pictures, the pressure switch/sensor looks to be very close to where my leak is. I wonder if maybe the connector is just contaminated? And if it is possible to unhook the connector to clean it without doing the whole alternator removal thing?

I would just replace it with a new one. There are not really critical to change immediatly. I only took me 40min to do the whole process which included cleaning the mating part that attaches to the sensor with compressed air and contact cleaner. I think it would take you longer trying to work around the alternator but hey its your time not mine.

BTW. It probably is your themostat housing thats leaking because I had to have mine replaced to when i did a flush and refill.

**Make sure you use a 8 point socket. Since the sensor has rounds a 16 is likely to slip an get stuck. I happend to me the second time i changed it.

Well, I went to give this a shot today, didn't get past the top alternator bolt (I didn't try real hard), so I looked underneath and was not feeling up to trying to get those out either. I think I might give it a shot again and just remove the belt and go in from the front.

Also read on one of these threads that this code may make the MDS not work resulting in worse mileage, which I'm getting.

I always have a cheater pipe hand. Trust me your going to need it. I would unloosen the top on first then go under the car and remove the 2 bolts. Then go back up and remove the bolt you loosened. Make sure you do this in the day time youll need the light. I had a hell of a time with the sensor clip I broke it.

Got it done, from the top. The tricky part is working with a mirror to get the red tab unlocked. Was cake the rest of the way.

Code has not reappeared and it seems to be getting 2-3 MPG better.

I get the same code, mpg is off by 2-3 miles. I dont hear the MSD kick on anymore which I used to hear while cursing. could this be a bad switch sensor? If so how much are they?

Probably. $57.50 from the dealer.

Main tools needed to do it from the front:

3/8 ratchet (for tensioner)
flat screw driver to slide the red tab on the connector
mirror (remote video would kick butt)
needle vice grip (to press the other connector lock and pull the connector)
1 -1/16 deep socket, 3" extension, ratchet
some contact cleaner to clean the connector on the harness
