Help!!!car is locked down and won't start.

I disconnected the batterey to try and fix a window issue as suggested by a user in another thread. I hooked it back up and went to get in the car and it would only start for about 3 seconds and shut off. there is also a little red light blinking. It is the only light in the owners manual cluster illustration that does not have a description. it is under the fuel and speed gauges and the mph needle points right at it when at rest. Anyway after a few tries, the car no longer starts at all. I suspect this has something to do with the alarm. The original keys do not work to unlock the doors or any other function that used to work remotely. I've tried leaving the ignition in the "on" position and also tried hit the lock buttons manually while in this mode. Even tried disconnecting- reconnecting the battery again. nothing seems to work. anyone please help...I want to get out and watch football......

I'm not saying this is going to work, but it sure as hell can't hurt and frankly I just don't know. This is from a post by glhs837, dealing with pregramming a 3rd key. Just skip that part (#6).

1. Insert Key #1, turn to ON for 10 seconds
2. Key #1 OFF and remove
3. Within 5 seconds, insert Key #2 and turn to ON
4. Wait ten seconds, single chime sounds, Theft Alarm (red dot) starts flashing and remains til Step 7
5. Key #2 OFF and remove
6. Within 10 seconds, insert Key #3 turn to ON.
7. Wait 10 seconds, another single chime, Theft Alarm stops, then flash three times, then stop.

I'm really curious to see if this works. Might just help someone else some day.

it didn't work....I called a locksmith because a friend told me they deal with these issues all the time. He told me to put the key in "on" position for 10 to twenty minutes and if that didn't work to call him back. it hasn't worked yet, but maybe if it sits a little longer...thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I'm stuck home alone for the game...sure was craving wings....

When it happen to me I was out shopping. Used the remote to lock the car came back unlock the car started it as soon as I left the key go it shut off. I was across from the dealer wen over to them. The sent a guy over to look at it and told me they would have to order a new anti-theft system. Car was only 6 weeks old then so I would call your dealer on this one

why would disconecting the batery fix your window problem? its not like there computer controlled or anything like that, im 99% sure that they can reset the anti theft system it should be like an hour job at the dealer if they have to replace it im sure it will not be cheap. Im also having some problems with my window switches to, but only happens about once a month so i didnt even bother talking it to the dealer yet. Also check in the evic when the last vta trig was to confrim that it is the anti theft that is shutting your car off.

called two different dealers and got the same thing...the first four times I tried to start the car, it came on and shut down within a few seconds. if I had let it sit for an hour or two and unhooked the battery again, then I would be able to reset it myself. But when I turned it a fifth time, it put the car in a security mode that can only be reset by the dealer..so I have to have it towed in and reset....wish that disclaimer was somewhere inthe manual!!!
