It started with the BAS\ESP light…

2006 300C with 34,800 Miles
It started with the BAS\ESP light… and the dealership couldn’t replicate the issue so they flashed the TCM. When I got back into the car the EVIC display on the Instrument Cluster didn’t show the temp or direction… as I scrolled through the device many items didn’t exist. Took back to dealer and they ordered a new Cluster … (I guess you really can get Cluster F*’d)
After this visit and back in the 300 and the alarm keeps going off.. According to the dealer the door sensor is now bad… also, the wipers come on when I use turn indicators… Oh, and the AC fan doesn’t go into “Low Speed” mode only blows on high (Is that a statement)…
Any ideas if the dealer could have messed up the entire TCM Flash and I will keep getting peculiar symptoms…
Any help or guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

Now that's funny!

I don't have a clue what is going on with your car. If the dealer can't fix it this next time around I'd try taking it to another dealer if it isn't that far away. I wonder if they could have flashed it for the wrong model or something like that. Keep us updated on what you find out.

Thanks for the support Cibalo.... The dealer just called and replaced the door sensor... and couldn’t replicate the other issues... so to them must not be a problem... Not a happy camper...
Time will tell... (Except the Chrysler Warranty is about to expire… (I do have extended to 100K plan, with c-note deductable).

I have a similar problem right now with my stock 2006 300C (22K miles, build date 01/06).

I was experiencing some minor shift issues (maybe the 1-2 shift problem that has a TSB, posted elswhere), so when I brought the car in to the dealer for routine service I mentioned this, and they said there was a probably a software update.

When I picked up the car I noted on the work order that there were several software modules updated. I thought, that's good - new software to fix bugs and maybe some new features...

After driving away from the dealer, I noticed that, like BRobe99, the compass heading and outside air temperature were not displaying. Further fiddling with the EVIC revealed that there were menus missing - such as for the tire pressure and oil pressure. Oh, and the sunroof controls don't work. I couldn't turn around and bring the car back, since I needed it to drive to work.

I contacted the dealership, was told that maybe my personal settings were reset and that I could correct this myself... After bringing it in this week to prove that I wasn't crazy/inept, we made an appointment to have the flash checked/updated.

So yesterday I brought the car back to the service dept. I waited a few hours, but they were not having any success with it, so I left the car there. Later in the day, the diagnosis is that they think it was flashed to a base 300 model, and are not able to flash with the correct software for a 2006 300C.

They are ordering a new Cluster - which should come in next week. I picked up the car today since it is drivable, although I worry about what else might be impacted by this problem.

I was able to use the "easter egg" key combo to get the software version that is currently loaded:
CCN SOFTWARE INFO
8/23/07 V4.13
P/N 04843155AI

I don't know that this version info is relevant (since it's just the one module), but I thought I should include it in case it is.

I'm also worried that I'll have additional trouble (like BRobe99) even after the cluster is replaced. Also, it seems silly that they can't just flash over the incorrect version, and have to replace the hardware.

Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, what fixed it for you?

Damn, two of you in the same thread! I don't have a clue what was done, but I look at these cars as one giant computer that needs rebooting every now and then when things like this happen. I'd try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Can't make matters any worse.

Thanks for the reply; I just went out and tried a "cold boot", but it didn't help.

Working at a dealer, I like to update any modules that have new revisions available (I'm a techno-junkie. What can I say?). Recently, when I updated my SRT8 cluster from 04843155AH to 04843155AI, I lost the bottom row of the SRT-8 logo, Compass/temp, oil pressure, etc., exactly like the others. We replaced the cluster and all was well. Like an idiot, I had the new cluster, which was AH from '06, to the AI again. Same thing!!!! Obviously, there is a problem with the AI flash. DO NOT LET ANYONE FLASH YOUR SRT-8 CLUSTER TO THE AI FLASH. IT FRIES IT INSTANTLY. I'll replace the cluster again and wait for AJ to come out, if it ever does.

Cold booting won't help. The cluster is "done". It will require replacement.

You'd be amazed at how much runs through the cluster. I assume it's been replaced already and all is well? If not, everything should be OK after cluster replacement.
