I am also having the same problem, I have tryed to operate from the lighter area and its is not working nor is the lighter itself? I have looked at the fuses in the engine bay and in the trunk and none of them are blown.

Did you check fuse 18 in the trunk? also are you charging with the
key on or off?

You know that fuse can be relocated so that it comes on with the
key or it can be set to always on.

Cigarette Lighter

I couldn't get the "center console cigarette lighter" to work. After checking the fuses I discovered there was a "dime" inside the lighter blocking the contact. I put a piece of gum on the end of a pencil and removed it, lighter now works. I no longer throw my loose change into the console.

My problem is close to those noted above but not quite. My Cigarette Lighter blows fuse #18 at ramdom intervals. 4 fuses in the past year. I can't figure out what is causing the fuse to blow. The only thing it is used for is the lighter (Yes I smoke) I use the center console to attach my charger for the cell phone.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing the problem? Any help would be appreciated

It's aprox. 1 a clock ( night time ) here and i just could not fall asleep even though i have to wake up in 4 hours to go to work.
I was up thinking about why the lighter in the center wont work.
So i logged on here since i know that there always are some answers here.
And i eventually found out that fuse #18 is generally the issue.
So i got my flaslight and went outside to check it out.
And what do i see, THERE IS NO FUSE THERE !
I while ago i left the car at the dealership when i had some trouble with the shifter.
And they said that the fuse was blown but they replaced it.
Well geuss which fuse they used ?

They took my #18 fuse and used that one instead of putting a new one in.
Aint that some sh*t.

So as soon as im off to work i'll stop by the gas station and pick a new one up and try it....
I would not have belived it if i didn't see it with my own eyes...

( By the way dont mind the spelling )
