help esp bas abs light on sometimes red airbag light

so i bought a used 300 that was smashed very minor in the front. i fixed the sheetmetal but cant figure why the yellow/orange abs bas esp lights stay on ( the ones on the cluster) also the red airbag light comes on sometimes. (the one on the cluster) The airbags were never deployed. I also have 24"rims on it. I have pulled the #11 fuse, disconnected the battery, and tried to pull codes from the evic.(no codes popped up. )Any ideas what else i can do? Thanks.

I don't know about the BAS WSP light but the airbag light could indicate a bad clockspring connector in the steering column. The intermittent airbag error points to this also. Try adjusting the steering wheel in and out to see if you can trigger the problem.

let's start at the top....

first, the ESP/ABS lights are directly related to the ABS module and the Steering Angle Sensor.

so the car had an accident.

several things need to be reset, especially if the battery was disconnected....

starting at the top, the ABS module is attached to the ABS pump at the right front of the car, inspect it for damage, it is a black box if it has a crack or even a dent, chances are the circuit board inside got damaged, get a new one.

IF it doesn't appear to be damaged, then try to reset the steering angle sensor, to do this:

start the car, and set the wheels straight
turn off the car
restart the car
turn the wheels all the way to the right
turn the wheels all the way to the left
turn the wheels all the way to the right again
center the wheels
turn off the car
restart the car

I suggest you do this in a parking lot with some room, and you DON'T turn the wheels with the car stopped, it is very hard on the steering rack, esp with 24's
put the car in drive and roll slowly (under 1mph) as you do this.

that should reset the ESP light.. if the ABS light stays on, then I suggest finding someone with a star scan or going to a dealer and pulling the codes, the ABS module may have an issue or may need to be recalibrated, and a star scan IS required for that.

the airbag light could be a bad sensor, even though you didn't pop the airbags, you could have damaged one of the front sensors in the accident.. I suggest inspecting all the wiring behind the front fascia, the sensors are on the left and right side of the actual bumper..

your clock spring and steering control module are bad..
the SCM controls the steering angle sensor, so that explains the ESP/BAS lights.

the clockspring connects the airbag to the column wiring, so that explains the Airbag light

$200 in parts and at least 2 hours of labor.
