Headlights go off, all dash lights light up, DING DING DING. What happened? (Moved)

So I'm driving. Everything is cool, kids are in the car so I'm not driving like a <edit: mentally challenged person>. I got my auto headlights on (like always, I never too it off the auto setting), then out of nowhere the headlights go off, every dash light comes on and the DING DING DING DING thingy goes off yet the car is still driving perfectly.

I turn the head light knob to ON and the lights come on. Then go back to auto, they don't come on. Then back to ON and they stay on, meanwhile car runs perfectly. Another block or two, I go to auto headlights and they come on.

No codes. No aftermarket lights. No aftermarket anything. Happened twice in two days.

It's been EXTREEMLY hot, like 100+ then cooling off to 95ish at night.

Wasn't doing anything out of the normal, no shifting, no peeling out, nothing wired, nothing played with, just every single light on the dash came on like when you first start it and it DING DING'd for 10 seconds.

This every happen to you?

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Possible interference with your sensor? Complete shot in the dark.

Sounds like the cluster is going bad or you have a bad ground......the store bought code readers or the Predator will not read Chassis codes.....you can only read them with a Star tool....so there may be codes you don't know about.

I'm going to ask the same question I asked in the last thread I saw like this, because I'm not so sure..

Is your battery the original battery? Do your cluster screens flicker or go dim when you turn the key?

Usually the cluster only freaks out like that if the voltage falls below a certain level. Reminds me of something funny that happened in my old car - if you tried to start it without enough juice, the windshield wipers would start wiping. Weird!

Hello all. I am new to this site and I am having the same problem as described above. My headlights go out, my dash flickers, and it continues to drive. The climate control does not work during the "episode" but the radio does as well as the power windows work. I have brought it to many Chrysler dealers and they cannot find anything wrong with the system. Any help will be greatly appreciated everyone. Thanks for your time

Hello All,

I had the same issue with the lights going on and off while driving. Took it to the dealer, they said it was the headlight swith and replaced it. For future reference when you get it fixed, make sure to gently turn on your headlights. The fact of switching on/off so fast with excessive force wears out the switch, which ends up by damage causing the headlights to flash or totally go off even when they turned on. Mines are working fine since the repair.
