Lifter Valves and Transmission

Hello All,
Firstly i would like to say how much i enjoy this forum. I read all the post and have learned so much form you all. Now i would just like to share with you a problem i had. A few months ago i started hearing this knocking sound from the engine after a few visits to the dealer they finally figured out that it was the lifter valve. After changing the lifter valves no more knocking sound. So if any of you experince this make sure to check the lifter valves. Now for a question i have a 300 touring (i know not a c but still a great car) from the first day that i have the car when engine is started cold and drops to idle speed and then put it into foward gear it gives a push foward as if hit by behind. This happens whent he car is first strated. When the engine is warm this happens but very rarely. I would like to know if anyone has ever had this happen.. The dealer reprogrammed the tranny but still the same. By the way what does it mean that the transmission shutters (read all the posts about water in the transmission)

Thanks
Frank

Touring with transmission jolt!

I have a 300C but my mom has a 300 touring. I have noticed that sometimes, her car jolts hard when take it out of park. I mean a really big jolt (accompanied by a loud thud)!

Oh yea, my 06' C had the water/transmission problem. I first noticed it with less than 400 miles on it. The car would shutter and shake at about 40 or 50 mph while accelerating. It was not good.

The dealership flushed my system 3 times and re-routed something. The guy told me that water from the a/c was getting into the transmission. The car has 1,600 miles on it and it seems to be O.K. (I Hope).

Thanks for the info Gary345. I guess i'm not the only one. The car runs great but the hard jolt is pretty annoying and a little discomforting. When i showed the dealer he told me that there was nothing to do that everyting was ok with the transmisson. I hope that there is some kind of fix for the jolting. If anyone else has had this problem and had it corrected please let me know.

So far no shutter or shaking for the transmisson (8500 miles) i guess it would of happened already if there was this transmssion problem. I may be a little paranoid.
I wonder why only some cars have this problem with water in the transmission? my built date is Dec 2004

Frank,

I have the same vehicle (a '300 Touring'), but unfortunately I've also experienced the exact same 'lurching forward' problem. The last time, it caused $2,200+ damage to the front of my car and $1,800+ damage to the rear of the other. My car was already 'warmed-up' (having already traveled about ten miles), when all of a sudden, while waiting at a stoplight, it became possessed (having 'a mind of its own') and took-off like a rocket into the rear of the car ahead of me. Now mind you, this all happened while my right foot was firmly depressing my car's brake pedal. I've taken my car into my Chrysler dealer, but only to be advised that they couldn't find anything wrong (they "couldn't duplicate the problem"), claim there was nothing wrong with my car's computer or the transmission, nor have they ever heard of this problem before. Although my car’s transmission, computer, or whatever may have since 'healed itself' (as I’ve haven’t experienced that problem for sometime now), I’m sure that others out there must also be experiencing/have experienced this same and/or similar ‘lurching’ problem(s). If you eventually do decide to contact DCX about this problem, then please feel free to add my name to their 'problem contact list'. Not only did this problem inconvenience the other driver and me, as well as also costing my automobile insurance company a lot of money, but has also resulted in tarnishing my perfect driving record and has now forced me to pay increased auto insurance premiums…since Chrysler won't give me any documentation which will substantiate my claim.

Here are a couple of links where I’ve addressed the initial incident/problem:
