Subject: Automatic Headlamps Sensitivity Improvement

Models: 2006 (LX) 300C/Magnum/Charger

Overview: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the HVAC Automatic Temperature Control (ATC).

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on and between Mar. 14 2005 and Apr. 22, 2005.

Symptom/Condition: The vehicle operator would prefer that the automatic headlamps turn on earlier (more ambient light present). The HVAC Automatic Control is used to sense the outside ambient light level from the sun sensor. This signal is communicated to the headlamp module.

Subject: A/C System Doesn't Cool After Extended Driving In Hot And Humid Ambient Conditions

Models: 2006 (LX) 300C/Magnum/Charger

Overview: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the HVAC Automatic Temperature Control (ATC).

Symptom/Condition: The vehicle operator notices a loss of airflow from the vents and becomes uncomfortably warm after a long drive in hot and humid weather while operating with the air conditioning on. The A/C evaporator is freezing up. Ice forms on the evaporator and blocks airflow into the cabin.

Subject: Circular/Ring Marks On Glass

Models: 2005 - 2006 (LX) 300C/Magnum/Charger

Overview: Circular patterns may appear on the glass which are visible mostly when the glass is moist or fogged up. The size varies from 2-6 inches and are typically described as “rings” or “circles” that won’t clean off with standard glass cleaners.

CAUTION: Do not use any materials containing quartz or silicate abrasives. Typical examples of abrasive cleansers include (Ajax®, Comet®, Soft-Scrub®, etc). Cleansers with abrasives will scratch the glass surface and cause irreparable damage.

Parts required: Calcium Carbonate (Bon Ami®) or a glass polish containing Cerium Oxide.

Cleaning procedure:

1. Moisten a clean cloth with water.
2. Wipe the glass surface leaving a very fine film of water on the glass.
3. Observe the location of the marks on the glass.
4. If the marks are on the inside of the glass surface, take precautions to cover any of the
interior components the cleanser could come in contact with.
5. Rinse the cloth with clean water.
6. Apply cleanser to the moist cloth.
7. Rub the surface of the glass with the cleanser in a circular pattern being sure to cover
the entire area that the mark involves.
8. Wash off any residual cleanser material with a moist cloth.
9. Dry the glass surface.
10. Check that the removal has been successful by rubbing a moistened, clean cloth back
over the cleaned surface and inspect for suction cup marks.
11. Repeat as necessary to remove all of the mark(s) from the glass surface(s).

I have this exact thing. Just as described, it is only visible under certain conditions. I would clean the window, inside and out, like a mad man & think I got it off (you can't see it normally); than, I'd be driving down the road, look in the rear view mirror and there that pesty little bugger would be there to greet me. Now I know how to attack it, thanks.

I to have that little pain in the window. I was looking at the TSB's and started to read this one and I got a smile on my face. As you stated I know how to kill the little pain in the ass.

Why do you suppose the Subject is "auto-headlamps" but the overview mentions "auto-temp control"??
And why does it only apply to vehicles built during a 5-week period only?

The TSB says the climate control system provides an input to the lighting system: "The HVAC Automatic Control is used to sense the outside ambient light level from the sun sensor. This signal is communicated to the headlamp module."

This is just a guess; but, I think the sensor is the little fish eye looking button between your radio and the climate controls.

The sun sensor is on top of the dash near the windshield. An infrared sensor is located in the face of the control unit.
