Switching back to Auto

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to switch back to auto drive after shifting the car into manumatic? I am sure it is something obvious I am missing here, but I can't get the darn thing back to regular drive without taking it into neutral/reverse/park/etc.

shift past 4th into Drive.

The car can start in any gear. No need to move into N.

Yeah, this auto thing is much more forgiving than a straight up manual. Thanks.

Yes,
You have to go all the way up through the gears to get back to D...
What ever you do I don't recommend going to neutral and back to D. I tried this, and the car got stuck in first gear until I stopped. Luckily I wasn't going that fast when I did it.

it's a "slapstick" instead of a stickshift!

The auto-stick will jump back to drive if you just hold it to the right. It will also automatically downshif to the optimal gear if you hold it the the left. You dont have to continuously tap it to get it where you want it.
