Thanks for explaining. So if the dealer allocation is for 5 cars, after the fifth person buys or orders that model at a dealership, it is in the dealers best interest to steer the customer to a different model. This seems to contradict the idea of selling a lot of a new hot selling car. Also, if a dealer in a certain location (lets say where everyone drives a Lexus)couldnt move many 300Ms last year but in the same location the 300C (which this Lexus driving group of people like) this year takes off he is penalized. Still GOOFY!!!!!

I don't mean to stir up any problems. I was told by my Chrysler dealer that any new 300C orders will have to wait 9 months before they will be delivered. I'm taking that with a grain of salt. My dealer didn't know much of anything during my order.

Allocation is put in place so that DCX knows how to order from suppliers. Chrysler does not go to a supplier and just guess at how many engines they need, they base it on similiar product sold at similiar times. The cookie store at the mall makes enough cookies on Sunday based on the amount of cookies they sold last Sunday. You want your supply to match the demand. Smart business practice.

Makes sense, however, the ordered cars shouldnt be held against the allocation. Orders should come from an order stock held by DCX. Allocation should be for off the lot sales to the Dealer. The cookie store makes dough for the estimated sales Sunday from Sunday...understoood. However, if earlier in the week the owner gets a huge order for cookies he doesnt close the shop on Sunday because he used up all the dough he had allocated. Nor does he limit the huge order to just what he had planned to sell on Sunday. (Actualy I grew up working in a bakery) But, if I understand your analogy there just arent enough ingredients to be had to make 300c "cookies" for all who want them. Sooooooooo the price of cookies is going up.

I guess I'm just lucky....Walked into my dealership in mid may here In Myrtle Beach SC, just to "test drive" and drove off the lot with one the same day. I think the salesman tricked me into buying that day by telling me that after that shipment, there would be no more with a sunroof for six months because of some vendor issues, but I'm happy to have been duped on that occasion..There were three 300c's on the lot that had just come in the night before. Of course they were all gone by the end of the day, but every time I go to the dealership, I always see a couple of C's sitting on the lot. I could not imagine having ordered one in may or june and just now getting it. I don't know how I would have lived this summer without my C.

Congrats on the quick delivery. What area are you from? I'm in So. Cal and nowhere near getting my "C".
I will assume your dealer had allocation, which would explain the quick deliver.
