Just for the heck of it I did a dealer search on LA zip code 90010. So many people have posted that their scarce out there. I found 9 300Cs listed at the first four dealerships that publish their inventory. Various options available.

I understand why some prefer to order their car but for those who are willing to buy off the lot it appears they are available.

Ordered my cool vanilla C on April 17 and drove it away on August 31. Has all options except cold weather package, smokers packge, Sirious radio, U-connect, and walnut. Only very minor problems in first 3000 miles. Brake light came on a couple of times hasn't happened since. Suction cups used to install rear window left rings on rear window. Dealer removed with solvent. Drivers door interior panel came loose which required replacing a clip. Taking a 1000 + mile trip next week. This should be the real test. Although I have heard about all the problems, I haven't had them and wouldn't delay buying the C because of potential problems. The next version may have new problems that no one is experiencing now. Buy a good extended warranty and the C is still a bargain.

You should try calling some of those dealers and asking what they'll sell the cars for. When I was searching, many of them that were showing on the web were already pre-sold and those that weren't were $5-9 K over sticker. I don't think the SoCal dealers have C's sitting around for a week or two just waiting for the right person to come in and buy it.

I too am in SOCal. Just yesterday I had a dealer from Industry call to inform me that they had just received 2 300C's. I asked about pricing......MSRP + $8900.00.

Ordered my 300C on July 31. For the past two weeks salesman has told me it is in a "D" status. He says the delay is due to a shortage of the HEMI engines. Has anyone else heard this? I think the saleman is full of it. He either doesn't know when my car is coming or he knows it is going to be a while and doesn't want to tell me. I've been very patient so far.

Track it yourself and see if he's telling the truth. Call the 800 # and ask for a status update on your order. You need the VON or VIN to do this. This thread as well as others has the 800 number in it to call.

I called the 800# and was told it was in a "build" status. But she could not tell me exactly what "build" meant. They told me to contact the dealer for a more detailed status. Oh well, I was just wondering if anyone else had heard about a shortage of the HEMI engines.

Thanks.

Did you get a vin number? Ask for your vin number. If they don't have it, then it is in BX or C-Tentative build date status. If your order is in D or D1, they will issue your order with a vin number. Any improvement from BX status is good. I have been in BX since July 26.

I've read a few articles talking about a shortage of Hemi's.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5821333
http://www.autoblog.com/entry/1388406740662595/

I placed my order about 3 weeks ago and now my dealer tells me that unless Chrysler adds the third shift I may not get a 2005. More orders then capacity.
