Problem with the Airbag warning light on.

Has anybody had a problem with this? Mine came on Monday evening, I have an appointment to have the dealer take a quick look at it.
Maybe they will find an error code, and it will be an easy fix.

Dealer looked at it; says it is the "Clockspring", that is a slipring at the base of the steering wheel. All the controls and equipment at the steering wheel goes through it.

Same issue

I've had the same issue in my 05 300c. I took it in the first time, and they said it was the clock spring...they replaced....when I went in to pick it up, it was still on. Now not even 1000 km later, it's on again!
Does anyhone have any other news, or experiences?
Ciao,

I had an ongoing problem with my airbag month for 8 months+. Eventually they had to replace the wiring harness. I guess some early models had the wiring harness without gold-plated contacts. I was told this was the problem, especially in colder weather when a good connection is needed. My light was always on when the cabin/outside temperature was cold because a good connection was needed. Once the car, wires warmed up, upon the next start of the car the light would remain off until the next morning or when the car sat for awhile. It was a pain in the ass for them to track it down, but since the replacement of that harness, the light has remained off.

airbag light

Hey guys
I have a 3.5 and had the same problem.I actually found the cause. When I installed my amp I had to hook up a wire to a fuse at the panel in the trunk and there are 2 small black diods in the fuse box on the left i believe.Anyway try pressing down on them.I read that some people put tape on them to keep them in.

Add me to the list!
This morning in rush-hour traffic.
I'll try the pressing the diodes trick to see if it goes off and stays off.
Kind of weird in a way as yesterday I helped a friend extinguish the air bag light in his '98 Mustang caused by a chrome-plate dressup kit he had added that literally left the crash sensors ungrounded. Seems like the 'evil seed' followed me to my C!
12/05/05 EDIT: At lunchtime I had occasion to have to go into the trunk so I pulled up the floor cover, popped the PDC's cover and pushed on the two black diodes. They really didn't seem to move. Only then did I start the engine and, as if by magic, the airbag warning light extinguished after the perscribed 6 - 8 seconds. I should have tried starting it before pressing on the diodes as maybe the warning light would have turned off by itself. I'll see what the trip home brings!
PS - For the record, the outside temperature at the time was 31 degrees F, but then's about what it's been all day so far.
12/06/05 EDIT: No air bag light on the trip home or back in to work this A.M.
Ambient temp. still around 30F. I checked the service manual as to what the purpose of those (2) black diodes is/are. Neither has anything to do with air bag stuff. Interestingly though the black diodes are situated in the rear PDC on the end of a row with 4 fuses, one of which (#28) is for the MODULE-OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER! Perhaps accessing the diodes also accessed Fuse #28?

Had the same problem with my 05 300C with < 2k miles when it happened. The air bag light in the dash would come on intermittenly along with a chime. Next time I started the car it would went away. Took it to the dealer and they reported a faulty air bag module. Ordered the part in and replaced in less than an hour. So far with 1000 miles since the repair, it's behaving with no problem.
