Road Racers - Do you know that Toyo has a DOT racing tire in a 20 " size?
I came across this on the Tire Rack site. Toyo has released a new DOT competition tire:
Proxes R888
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Proxes+R888
Should be okay for short drives to and from the track.
Does anyone have any more info or any thoughts you want to share?

rated highly here:
Track-Tire Test: BFGoodrich, Toyo, Michelin, and Yokohama Tires Rated – Feature – Car and Driver
I still like the Toyos even though they seem a bit behind other makes. But they are making a concerted effort to compete

Steve - this appears to be an entirely new R-Compound tire, comparable to Hoosier R6.
And - the fact that it can see limited road use and comes in a 20 inch size really has me interested as a dry track tire . . .

At the last auto x event I went to there was a guy with a 400whp rsx with these R888's on it. Think he has a 275/xx/17 and he hooked very well.

How much those things cost?? I don't see a price.
Just curious. I think the price tag will make me feel better about the coin I have to drop soon on new tires - of a more tame type.

A very sticky tire. Has a very low treadwear rating of 100 and has a high recommended pressure. They are DOT approved for street driving (not so much fun on wet roads or in cold conditions, though!) and there are two 20" sizes. With the two, you could have a nice stagger going.
But WTF????? Can't ship to WA and OR????? Dammit...I'll have to go to Idaho for a set!

But that does make $194 per tire much easier to accept. Thanks.

R888's have been around awhile. Sister company Nitto offers the NT-01 which is a similar compound but with a more street friendly pattern.
