Well, my dealer installed the new grill and modified/lowered the front license plate bracket...I thought that it turned out very well.

Never had a problem.

Not going to run a front plate on my new 300. Didn't have one on my Bimmer for years and never had a problem.

You may want to be extra careful when having drinks with dinner though. You'd hate to blow a 0.81 after getting stopped for a lousy plate.

Anybody come up with a good idea for a removable license plate bracket yet; i.e., 'on' whilst driving and 'off' while it's parked at shows?

I've had two front plate tickets issued by two different parking enforcement agencies. LA and Beverly Hills.

No front plates on my 300C, WRX or 4-Runner. I have a small front license plate collection I have not run front plates on most of my vehicles in 20+ years driving in CA. I did get one parking ticket "no plate" in Anaheim about six years ago on my old BMW 325.

One thing about that show "Knight Rider" I watched in my youth that I liked was that he would push a button and it would cycle the plate to a different one. I think he had three combinations. I always thought about building a little system to do that (ya know, running a toll in a pinch if you have no change, etc.) No doubt if you were ever discovered with a system that cycles between different plates at the push of a button you'd probably be staring at some federal-level judge sooner or later; but it's a nice thought!

Anyway, to hell with front plates - it throws off the look of the front grill too much. If I ever get a fix-it ticket I'll show up with the front-plate and get it signed off, pay the $15, and then when I get home the plate comes right back off.

Rinse-cycle-repeat.

Simple operating expense - so just say NO to front plates especially if you care about the look of the front of your car.
