Cali folks--Are you Runninf Front Plates?

I hate the idea of messing up the smooth front styling with a big black plastic license mount.

What are local people doing re this?

I run one on my Yukon, but it has a large built-in mount that was already there.

I left the one off my Infiniti and never had a problem.

Has anyone been ticketed/stopped for this?

Thanks.

I got the plate on my C. But I lowered it below the stock grill, like the attachment shows. I still have the stock grill.
I used a mesh wire cutter to cut the plastic off the black plate holder.
In my past lives, some of my previous cars did not have front plates and I was never stopped or ticketed. With the plate lowered on the 300, I don't think it looks too bad.

Do you have to drill new holes in the front bumper?

If someone would come up with a front plate holder that would repossition it so it looks like that in your (and E&G's) picture without putting another set of holes in the front bumper, I bet it would sell.

Yep, 2 small holes are needed. I used a yellow marking pencil to mark the spots to drill. You don't need a metal drill-bit because the bumper is rubber/plastic.

No front plate on my C and I never ran front plates on any of my 'Vettes, streetrods or other cars since my '64 Malibu SS way back in the 70's. Hubby runs plates only on his truck, because he drives about 2300 miles per month, but not his streetrod.

Only stopped/ticketed once in over 30 years, by CHP about 3 yrs. ago on I-40 headed to Laughlin. He had someone stopped at roadside when we went past and I saw him check us out in his side mirror as we went by. Hubby was driving my "Arrest-Me-Red" Corvette and I told him that guy was going to come after us. We had spotted him early and slowed so hubby said what for, we're not speeding... "no plates" says me... and there he was behind us with pretty flashing lights and his little ticket book and crayons in hand. Took the ticket to our local PD and they didn't even want to see the car, just signed it off, probably because it wasn't their dept. that issued it.

I think those of us that don't run front plates can expect more problems as road cameras become more prevalent since they can't ticket you if they can't identify you. I don't break too many laws any more at my age, but on this issue I'll remain a rebel.... at least until the next time, hopefully I'll make it through another 30 years!

I wish I didn't have to drill holes into my bumper! I will be buying a front plate bracket ASAP. Here in Germany/Europe, the 300c will attract a lot of attention from the police.

Front plate

In Canada we have to have front plates and look where they put mine. Not crazy about this positioning but what are you going to do.

Joey,
Nice info. I've been running no plates for a few months now and never been pulled over. I also take the toll roads and pay nothing because they have no plates to match me with. Risky yes, but these cars are so new police never second guess if we have plates yet. I'll give it another few months before I do the mod to the plates.
