Everyone, it was great to meet you all at the house of brews.
It was a great turn out. I have pictures and will try to post them. However, I am not sure how to do it. If it is unsuccessful, maybe someone can walk me through the process.

Shoutouts

Hemmee, six7one, pixelpusher, fatchance, kidcoastal, raka, and anyone else I may have left out.

It was a great time, and I look forward to the opportunity again.

Also, need help putting in my avatar...

RE: Pictures, I tried to load one but is said the file was too large, anyone know how I can size them to fit.

Man-o-man am I bummed I missed this one! I did have a great weekend in Chicago though. about 50 people showed up for our Iraq Veterans Against the War fundraiser, so it was worth it.

Looking at all these pictures was getting me excited for the next meet/cruise. Then I ran across this one (bottom) and go, "OMG who's Conti?!?" I have a woody for these cars. If it's yours PM me so I can give you propper respect on the forum.

Anyway, I'm glad you all had fun, and hopefully by next time I'll have more than my lip-spoiler (just added, very cool) and a 22elite armrest to show off.

Vance, it was great to meet you!
I'll PM you soon with the info you're requesting... in case I forget, PM a reminder to me if I don't send you the info by morning.

...Don't know why you had to go and change your name though

Thanks for the interest. Brief rundown:

It's been in my family since about 1972. It was purchased off a used car lot in Long Beach for $1100 and was originally sold to a big Real Estate broker in Whittier CA. The car spent it's life in Palm Springs up until 1999 or so when I took it under my wing and it became my problem.

I got a call from my father, "Son if you sell the Lincoln, I'll give you $250. I'm sick of dealing with it and it's just taking up space."

My response naturally was "You will do no such thing, I will buy the car off you for the original purchase price and NEVER sell it." /jedi mind trick

He laughed and promptly hung up.

It took me about 6 months to convince him to sell it to me, mostly because it was his belief I could not afford the maintenance and nightmare of having 2 cars at the age of 20. He misjudged my determination. I'd sell my kidney to keep the car running and store it in a proper garage. Since then it's costed me a bit more than a Honda Civic in rebuild costs and maintenance and it's been worth every penny. It get's driven weekly and is well known by many of the Valet drivers in Los Angeles whom seem to have the same respect for it I do. It carries all the battle scars of an all original car, and that is what makes it so special to me. I can park it in any parking lot and feel comfortable. Another paint chip? There's touchup paint in the glove box.

The goal I have been working towards is the ultimate in Las Vegas transportation. One day soon it's making the trip.. Fear and Loathing...

Nice story and photo Rogue. Photo looks as if it may have been taken in my 'neck of the woods'...saw the ancient Creosote bushes in the background. Keep up the great work, and let's hope that Vegas trip isn't that far off.

That's a great story Rogue. And a beautiful car. I always have my eye out for the late '60s, early '70s models. The Great White Whale! Terrific story too, sounds like it's a real family treasure, at least for you. Huge respect for recognizing that the cost of upkeeping such a vehicle is way less than the value of it sentimentally and as a "classic".
