On a brighter note, my 2005 300C and 1999 300M are the best two cars I've ever owned (I guess Motor Trend knows something when they hand out those awards). Thanks for everyone in engineering for producing these great cars. Happy holidays and thanks again for chatting with us and letting me beat my dead horse for awhile.
Thanks for the kind words and for your loyalty! Tell your friends! Happy Holidays to you as well!

Hello SRT engineers!

I love my SRT-4 and think it is great. I have one question though. A few other SRT-4s have experienced this problem, as have I. Last July I couldn't see the depth of the water on the road after a bad storm and drove through water that was about 1-2 feet deep. I didn't have a cold air intake on, just the stock air box. I was driving at about 15 miles per hour through it, if that. All of a sudden the car stalled and I took it in to be repaired. A whole gallon of water had gotten into the car including the engine, bending one of the piston rods completely. The whole engine had to be disassembled. It was a very expensive procedure. (Insurance covered most of it though.) Since I had just the stock airbox, why did this happen?

1) So you have no recommendations on how to make a 'plug-in' wiring harness? regardless of what I do with the wiring harness LOL!

2) Well, there isn't the usual borrage of questions today so I might as well ask this question. If you look on the SRT4 tach, there is a gray circle around the outside. But it gets 2x as thick right at 5800 rpm. Coincidence, that's just about the ideal place to shift. Is there any intentional reason for that? or is it just a coincidence?

About transmissions, it appears that all SRT-8s made after sometime in June/July are equipped with transmissions made in Germany, what is the reason for this?
We do not disclose our calibration efforts even for the ESP .

All A580 5 Speed transmissions used in US built Chrysler vehicles come out of Kokomo Indiana. A very similar transmission is also built in Germany for the Mercedes Products.

Well the small bit of a problem is 1 - 2 ft of water! We don't design the cars to be boats! The biggest problem in going through water (particularly at 15 mph hr) is the wall of water you build up in the front of the car.

I have been very happy with my C-SRT. The only thing that annoys me is the lack of throttle response when I step on the gas, not only at WOT but almost always I get a lug when accelerating and between shifts. Is this a problem that has a fix? My car was built on 9/29/05.

Thanks, Frank

If you are having this type of issue you should take your car back to your dealer.

Jeep Questions

Will there be a way to disengage the AWD (a button)?
Whats the percentage split?
Any 60 foot times recorded durring testing?
Are you also working on a cat-back system for the Jeep or just the other SRT-8's now?
