Is there a part number and release date for the GC SRT8 trailer hitch? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

SRT Engineers,
What was the criteria the the Jeep GC SRT8 was designed with the rear 226 RBI axle as opposed to a Dana 60, or even a heavily modified Dana 44 (old school)
Size, torque, area size requirements?

After all is said and done the 226 RBI is a orphan as far as aftermarket parts.

Red face

Why is the TSB for brake noise so incomplete? A lot of us JGCSRT8 owners are dealing with scored rotors on front and rears. The pads are only part of the problem. The TSB for the LX CSRT8 owners was very complete and resolved all the issues. Can you please revise the TSB to include rotors and address the front pads for squeal also? I only have 2500 miles on my JCSRT8 with a build date of 2/07/07 and have been dealing with this since miles 55. Please help us.

Thanks!
Rip

#1 - Is more noise on one side vs the other normal ? Or are we seeing variance on the sensors ?

#2 - If its normal to see that differnace in bank to bank noise is that differnace programed into the advance/retard tables to account for the additional noise ?

#3 - At what point are we going to see knock retard vs voltage in the knock sensors ?

Knock sensors are a tricky thing and the process to "learn" normal operation requires a PhD. Typically we characterize the knock while using Kistler probes precisely installed in the heads and then look for voltages that exceed our definition of normal to start retarding spark. The placement of the sensors is a compromise between function and packaging so it's almost expected that bank-to-bank you'll have slightly different voltages (as you see in the data). Each engine is different so a 5.7L's results will vary from that of a 6.1L or any other engine.

THIS IS WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING RUNNING.

1.) SHOULD I INSTALL A LOWER TEMP THERMOSTAT FOR THE UPCOMING SUMMER? (WHEN THE A/C IS NOT AN OPTION)
OR IS THERE ANOTHER OPTION YOU WOULD RECOMMEND?

2.) ADDITIONALLY, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO APPROACH A DEALER ABOUT TSBs?

THANKS FOR ENGINEERING SUCH A GREAT MACHINE. HAVEN'T HAD THIS MUCH FUN SINCE MY GRAND NATIONAL GOT STOLEN.

We recommend you leave it just as is. We are aware of those temps and are OK with them.

As to your approach to the dealer on TSB's, I would recommend kindness and an open mind. Seriously, not sure what your question is about but most of our dealers work hard to stay up with the TSB's as they come out. If you have a number off the web, just take it to him and ask him to look it up.

MOPAR is in the process of pricing and releasing the GC trailer tow package. Timing is TBD, but it is getting close.

Tsb 21-020-06 was performed on my 06 SRT-8 with part # 04692392-AF in Jan of 07.

What is the latest update part number? If a later version is available, can I have it installed?

Alot of us have squeeling on the front pads too and what about the scoring already done to the rotors ?? Why are we getting a weaker TSB fix for our brakes than the lx ( with all rotor replacement ) ? Especially considering the GC is heavier than the lx and puts more strain on the braking system.

Our testing has shown that the vast majority of the noise was coming from the rear brakes. Also the level of scoring on the Grand Cherokee has not approached the level seen on the LX prior to that TSB and will not affect performance. Believe it or not the extra weight of the Grand Cherokee is a good thing for this brake system.

How do the police package pieces compare with the two above?

The Charger SRT8 has 25% stiffer springs than the 300 SRT8. They have the same 30mm front and 15mm rear swaybars. The Charger and 300 SRT8s have different shock valving front and rear. You can now tell people that, JMatt, unlike at IRP a couple of years ago . The Magnum SRT8 uses Charger SRT8 spring rates, but a taller rear spring due to the extra weight. The Magnum has its own rear shock valving, but uses the same Charger front shocks and springs.

The cop cars, I think, have pretty much the same spring rates as the 5.7L Charger. They use taller springs so the ride height is correct when loaded with cop gear, cops, and perps. The cop cars have a unique 18mm rear swaybar. Cop car wheels are super heavy and don't clear the front brakes on an SRT8.
