In fact, as the fuel control cals move , and with lower grade fuels around the country, the Knock system becomes more active , the less spark advance , and performance.

Do you know what is causing the white buildup in the coolant? I had my coolant flushed, the recovery tank replaced, the additive added and a new thermostat installed. One week later, the ammonia smell is back, the coolant is frothy / foamy and the coolant temperature is 230-235 degrees in 55-60 degree weather. What is the white sludge in our engines and what will the permanent fix be? We paid allot for our cars and we are very concerned about durability issues. Thank you.

I have an 07 SRT8 Grand Cherokee. My question has to do with knock sensors and knock retard. Specifically, each morning when I first start up the truck, knock sensor 1 (via DashHawk - plugs into the PCM) indicates knocking at about .3417 volts. In addition, the DashHawk indicates knock retard anywhere from 4 to 105 degrees. This phenomina only seems to happen on first start-up, though, as the PCM does not retard timing on any subsequent start-ups throughout the day. Do you folks think one of my my knock sensors is defective, or is it a more serious issue?

Thanks

Have not worked with Dashhawk, but the electronics only gathers knock info from the sensor during select time windows within the spark firing windows of 40 to 0 degrees BTDC on each cylinder. Engines are also more mechanically noisy when cold. The knock signiture is in a band from 5000 to 6000 Hz. Generally, if the crystal which produces the knock voltage is working, it is working correctly. Generally they do not shift frequencies.

The calipers are the same for LX and WK. Your dealer could order a red set for your wife.

Air/oil separators are not vented to the atmosphere.

We'll be more clear, here. The software does not an auto 1-2 shift in autostick mode and full autostick gear hold in 2-3, 3-4, and 4-5.
