Cloudy coolant - any thoughts/answers?

I posted this over on the general discussion section and didn't get any help. Anyone here know?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been watching my coolant closely lately because after about 1000 miles of ownership my reservoir cap looked like it was spewing antifreeze:

I cleaned it up once thinking it may have been slightly overfilled from the factory, but then it leaked again. I had my dealer look at the cap and they ordered a new one. When I stopped by a couple days ago to pick it up, the mechanic loosened my cap while the motor was still hot - spilling coolant

He cleaned a little as we waited a few minutes for the coolant to cool before putting the new cap on, and I asked him about what looked like cottage cheese on the sides of the clear plastic coolant reservoir. He didn't know what it was, and guessed that it just looked that way through the plastic without examining any closer. Before I spoke up, I figured I'd check in here to see what the experts have to say.

I think it's a little milk-shakey. I wish I took better pictures but you can kind of tell how it's cloudy:

Is this bad or normal? Does anyone know what causes the cloudiness? I'm thinking about asking to have it flushed. Thanks for the help.

Oh and Moose, I did notice this too - good call:

There is a weep hole on the right top side by the fender and it sprays out on to the inner fender and looks like a leak. It is not a leak, but simply the coolant tank venting during high temps.
This motor is so pretty I want to keep the engine bay clean.

Not 100% sure but i think that means there is some oil and/or exhaust mixed with your fluids! (head gasket)
Smell your anti freeze and see if you smell exhaust fumes!
I hope I am wrong but you better have that checked!

You are not the first to report this strange phenomenon with their coolant. Here is another thread in which the same thing is mentioned.

(I see that you’ve posted in that thread as well.)
Cottage Cheese???

Not sure what all this “dairy” stuff is doing in your coolant system. I had the cracked and broken reservoir but no cottage cheese. Good luck!

His looks like milky fluid.
I don't think it's the same problem as in the cottage cheese thread?
Correct me if I am wrong please.
Thx Gary

Yes!, smell the coolant and also check the oil level.
If you smell oil or exhaust in the coolant , or the oil level is climbing, get that warranty to work, NOW!

Good luck, keep us informed.

Whew!
Glad to hear it is GOOD news.

Would you elaborate as to exactly where the crack is?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I haven't noticed any real change in my oil level, it has maybe gone down 1/2 quart over 2000 miles. Right now it resides just at the top of the fill line. I'll check my coolant for an odor. How noitceable will this be? Thanks,

Eric

Oh - and in relation to that cottage cheese thread, I think I do have the same problem as a couple of those guys.

Moose suggested that the coolant may have been mixed with another kind that it didn't agree with. Do you think that could have happened at the factory?

I sure don't want it to be the headgasket. The car currently runs fine with no problems, the exhaust isn't white like coolant is getting in. I'll pm those other guys and see if they have seen any resolution to the problem.
