Hold ESP button to shut off completely

Can someone please clear up this issue? I have seen a few posts where it has been suggested that by holding the ESP button for five seconds, you can completely shut down the ESP system. Can anyone say with certainty that this procedure will actually work.

Also, there seems to be some confusion as to whether the new GS kit turns on the factory fans earlier or if additional fans need to be installed. Clarification on these issues would be appreciated. Thank you.

The GS kit makes the fans turn on earlier (or at the very least, doesn't require additional fans).

No, the ESP does not shut off. That only applies to Caddies.

Apparently, the new Charger SRT8 will have a 3 positon switch that does allow a full turn off.

I do the way mine works is it's either on or off(which is kind of still on)

pg. 110 of the owners manual.........with the ESP system switched off, the engine torque reduction feature is cancelled. Therefore, the enhanced vehicle stability offered by the ESP is unavailable. ESP ALWAYS OPERATES UNDER BRAKING,EVEN WITH THE SWITCH IN THE OFF POSITION. When the ESP system is disabled (if one drive wheel loses traction and begins to spin) the brake is applied by the ESP system to control wheel slip. This wheel slip control is active at vehicle speeds between approx. 24 mph(40km/h) and 50 mph(80km/h).

holding the switch for 5 seconds does nothing at all. My car was built on 4/6/05. It is possible that they changed it during production, since my car was one of the first 250 built. hope this helps

I have an 06 SRT8. I took it for a ride after holding the ESP button for five seconds. I could not tell any difference from just pressing the ESP button.

I too saw a post from someone stating that they were told during the plant tour that all SRT8 vehicles would have the "five second " feature. Anyone?

I have a 06 C SRT8 and w/ the esp off the torque management is still on. I remove the #17 and drive the car a bit... and then jump in it.. the tires rip loose and the car is shifting harder and etc.

I think maybe when the charger srt-8 becomes available maybe we can get that 3-way switch for our 300c srt-8's!! That would be very cool! Does disabling fuse no. 17 really work for the esp being off completely with the torque management system,or does that fuse effect anything else,or not really effect the esp???
