New Tires - Final 3 Brands - Need help with Winner
It has been awhile since I've posted ... life is just a bit too busy right now. However, I do have a few updates I will post in the upcoming weeks on some new under hood BT stuff and my AAC Plasma Halo install that I now have in hand and will hopefully get to in the next week or two.
BUT ... For now, I am needing new tires. I have narrowed my decision down to three brands, but am stuck. I am still undecided on whether I want the convenience of being able to rotate the tires, or if I want to give up that for the staggered look. I am open to all opinions... here is where I am stuck:
Toyo Proxes 4 - 255/45/20 all the way around (about $157 each)
Toyo Proxes 4 - 245/45/20 front & 275/40/20 ($177 front & $163 rear each)
Michelin Pilot Super Sport - 255/45/20 all the way around (about $256 each)
Vredestein Ultrac Sessenta - 245/40/20 front & 275/40/20 rear ($220 front & $250 rear each)
Any opinions ... or other options in these brands you would recommend?

Well i have had 2 of those ,The toyos i had staggared as well toyo 4 245-275 rspectivly about an inch smaller overall than what i'm running now great tire sticks in the curves but if you are going to do any power adding they won't bite off the line ,just spin.now i have the vreds in 265-and 315 in 22"s and not as noisy as the toyo's and stick like a glove, still spin but not any where as bad as the toyo's. me i'd go with the vreds my self and staggared (Love that look)
I'm currently running Proxes 245 front and 275 rear.. I don't do any racing but like Sodak, love it staggered.. I might, for the sake of trying something different, flip over to something different.. But I am satisfied with the Toyo's, though they do get a little slippery during the cold.. But that's no biggie cause I a winter set to switch to..
I've had my SRT8 since 2006; now have over 90,000 miles on it - and since I like to waste time running around road tracks in the summer, i have been through many, many sets of tires.
At present, I am running Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I am really happy with these tires, in the dry and in the wet. They really suit the weight and suspension design of our beasts . . .
That's just my opinion. Here are some 'real world' results from running a 6 race series against all types of other cars and tires, including racing slicks, with the Super Sports on my SRT8:
I don't mean to hijack, but I need new summer tires as I'm just barely going to make it to my winter set. So I'll be shopping soon as well and I am in a similar boat with questions.
What I wonder most about is the staggered look. I currently run 275 all the way around. And cosmetically, I really like my fat front tires. So please tell me the advantages of the staggered set - assuming I'm not a crazy racer like NR! I can be an aggressive street driver and I only have a 5.7, so I certainly could use some better cornering/grip, but am I really going to feel that much of a difference if I go with a skinnier tire up front for my type of driving?
Seems like not being able to rotate is a pretty big negative (and costly) - so any improved handling would have to be a pretty big positive to justify going with a staggered set IMO.

Thoughts?
Thanks
Nope ,stay with what you have. staggared is more a cosmetic look (aka a hotrod look) .
I've run the Toyos in a 255/45 and currently the Vreds in a 265/45. The Michelins came out just after I got the Vreds, and they'd be my first choice, for sure... quiet and sticky. From my past experience with Michelins, they'll wear well, too. The Toyos were OK all around. The Vreds wear like iron, but they ride harsh, and they're f'n LOUD.

I have option 1 now and as others said, decent tire in warm weather but not so much in cold (mid 30s and below) where they just don't stick at all. If I wear through these and still have her I'll be looking at the Michelins next.
