Dyno Results: Perhaps the best stock so far

Just got a call on my initial dyno testing: 375 RWHP stock, on a dynojet dyno. My car has about 6500 miles now, and I broke it in without babying it. I'll post the actual chart when it gets e-mailed to me. They start development on the headers in the morning. I should know more about the timeframe for completion tommorow. It could take as long as six weeks depending on tooling needs, but I'm hopeful for 400 RWHP by the time this is complete.

wow -- from the title of the thread i assume you have no perf mods (exhaust or intake yet). what was the ambient temp?
assuming 'normal' drivetrain losses of 15% (i'm guessing here) 375/.85 = 441 at the engine. damn good.
These cars are monsters.

Congrats JMatt!! Are you going to use the magnaflow system and do you have any high flow cats along with the headers being developed?!Keep me posted as I am very interested in doing something similar.

Dynatech will be making the headers, and mating them to 3" in/out high flow cats. I think they'll dyno the car that way, then they'll add the magnaflow catback system and dyno it that way too. 400 rwhp is the goal with only the exhaust system.

As far as mods: the only mod on my car so far is tint. I even have the stock airbox.

Very nice. We put Dynatech headers on and didnt gain any peak power but did gain about 12 rw tq in the mid range. This was with 3 in. cats and 3 in. mid pipes. They look and sound good. Maybe you will get better results. But I think that the stock headers are hard to improve on at least in terms of bolt-on power gains.

I agree. Most of the gain will probably come with the combination of the magnaflow cat-back system. However, if you bolted 5.7L Dynatech headers on the 6.1L engine without fabricating a different mount, you blocked part of each exhaust port. I figure you already knew that though. Perhaps I'll need your stroker components next!!

Actually that is a very good point. A larger flange opening with a rectangular flow port going into the header would probably make quite a difference. We are going to fab a different set of headers for the stroker motor with this design.

Glad you are doing what you are as it may very well pick up power over the 5.7 headers we tried out.

Please let me know if these custom headers and high flow 3'' in and out cats make a difference, and are available.I sure would like to put this system on as well.

RATS!!!!! Not so impressive after all. Apparently one guy said to another, who said to another, who said . . . you get the point.

Turns out my car only dyno'd STOCK at 369.32 RWHP.
We'll see what the exhaust mods provide....

Well I can't say I'm surprised actually....Disappointed, but not surprised. I really thought it would improve but it appears with the stock cam backpressure is needed to maximize scavaging.

A new cam is what you need buddy.

But not to fear, you could make more than 400RWHP.

So whatcha gonna do?
