Going to the Dyno for the first time

I'm taking the ride to get it dyno'd before I start making any modifications. I've never done this before and am not particularly savvy. Does anybody have any advice on how they should test the car. All I know is that they have a Dynojet and typically work with Subaru's and Mitsus. Hood up? Hood down? Autostick? Automatic?

The Magnaflow system is on it's way so I'll do the same on the same dyno after the install. Then comes the Mopar CAI.

Thanks.

1. do it all the same way every time. ie cold motor, hot motor, hood up or down or whatever.

2. esp off and auto stick it into 4th gear.

3. start pull from around 2000 rpm and run it to the limiter.

have fun!

Thanks John!
I have a feeling I'm going to get addicted to mods after I get the MF setup from your shop. Who knows maybe your shop will see my car up close some day.

Good point.
About 4500 or 4000 on the new motor. Don't have time to wait as the Magnaflow system will be here shortly. I do have a weekend trip tp Santa Barbara which will add some miles but not 2k in time for the install.

I'm not looking for max HP per se but what actual gains the mods add and I will be adding them pretty quickly.

As John says consistency is everything:

We monitor engine sensors via OBD II port and make sure certain conditions are the same:

1.) Run after warm up - making sure ECM switch from closed loop/open loop occurs
2.) Run at similar ECT / IAT
3.) Run in similar weather conditions
4.) Make sure operator runs the car in the same fashion
5.) Make sure tire pressure is correct
