Got the call this afternoon to come down to look at the car. What an incredible sight. I wanted to drive it home tonight but have to wait.

I purchased the car from the Chrysler dealer in Baton Rouge, LA. Because of Katrina, they have been without power and unable to process the paper work.

However, I've been assured they will have the docs FedEx to me by Thursday morning. That means I'll have the entire weekend to enjoy this machine.

The courtesy drop worked perfect. Total cost is $250. I highly recommend this option to fellow California buyers who have to buy of state. DO NOT PAY OVER STICKER!!

Congrats AMG!! So sorry you have to wait, it will be agonizing I'm sure, but there are far worse stories than yours out there.
At least she's high and dry and soon she'll be home!

First thing I did was check the mileage. 3 miles showing on the odometer. Receiving manager told me she will not let the keys out of her sight.

Funny story...while I was talking to the receiving manager, a salesman walked in the office and asked when the SRT8 would be prepped.

Receiving manager said Thursday then asked why. Salesman said he already called several of his customers who have preordered the car and was waiting to receive the highest offer.

Receiving manager said "your standing next to the owner". We shock hands and he congratulated me and walked away.

My Sacramento dealer has over 20 pre-orders and only one SRT8 is showing up as D. The rest are BX. I suspect the D car will not arrive until Dec or January.

I feel VERY lucky to own this car and can't wait to get it home. Like most of you, acquiring this car has been a diligent labor of love or lust, I always get confused.

Mucho Congrats AMG!! What a contrast- a dream come true very near a nightmare that has been taking place. I'm glad your wait is finally over and too funny about the salesman! TDB!! or TFB!! Enjoy your ride and be sure to post some pics!

I sensed that around June the majority of posts on this BB shifted from "waiters" to "owners". Congratulations and welcome to the owners.

Perhaps my perception of this shift is subjective as I made the transition myself around that time. (I wonder how many waiters are still lurking out there? Truly a minority now, or perhaps the silent majority?)

i just called today and am back to D1 with an estimated ship date of 9/13, so i am feeling OK. i have been here before though and had an August ship date as well.

this board made all the difference in the process though and your right, back before you lucky bastards took over the board with your "hey this thing is freakin awesomes" and your "hey how can we mod this monsters" the board was loaded daily with aquisition tips. talk about your informed consumer. i was a car salesmans nightmare. putting dealership personel in their place had become quite an enjoyable hobby for a while.

on the other hand, i think supply is starting to catch up to demand. i got 2 calls this week from dealers i had contacted that had cars on the ground that were not exactly to my spec but on the lot none the less.

in any case, if there are any new members or lurkers just starting their quest, feel free to PM me and i will write or call you back with some tips. hopefully i will be asking for member help coming up with a new username very soon.
