J. Hennessey-Cam and Head work Possible?

Calling John Hennessey - Headwork on SRT8?

Not willing to go full bore on a GSM S/C until we get some firm feedback and "slips" on JKetrons car, so in an interim was thinking about some headwork & cam

My ? - Does anyone know if there are any decent cams to go with the SRT8, coupled with a 3 or 5 angle valve job-port and polish the heads-open up the Header exhaust pipes that could give a realistic 40-50 RWHP & RWTq addition.
Calling John Hennessey - Can this be done?

I'm sure that what you want is available (see other posts in this forum). The only problem I see with your plan is the cam. If you plan on going with a blower you want a blower specific cam and vice versa.

I agree, the cam is going to be the hangup. Just stick with the headwork for now. Thats where most of the power comes from anyway. Cecil.............

I agree too - start with the heads first and keep the stock cam. Here is why:

1. the heads are proven, reliable and gain 40 rw hp and 25 rw tq. they are fairly straight forward to install.

2. we are guessing that it is easier to drop the motor out of the car to do the cam swap vs pulling all the stuff out of the nose of the car to get the cam out. a cam swap is a project on this car.

3. we are going to begin testing different cam grinds next week. we know they will make power but what we really need to know is will they be driveable, run lean, cause check engine lights etc?

let us do the r&d so you dont have to. it will take a while. but once we are comfortable in sending out a few cam grinds, you will know all about them, good, bad or ugly. in the mean time, stick with what works and works well on your SRT8 and minimize your down time.

right now we only have 1 core set of stock heads. and they are being kept busy going on to 3 SRT500/550's that we have in production.

we can upgrade your heads, but would require the actual heads off of your car. we are stocking all of the hardware including valves, retainers, springs, etc. right now figure 2-4 weeks for turnaround.

also, depending on where you live and what grade of fuel you have available, will determine how much we bump compression up. CA SRT8's will get 10.4 compression, which will likley lower the power gain by 5-8 rw hp. better safe than sorry i say on your motor!

i will try to help with any other questions or comments. thanks for asking.

John, Isn't stock compression 10.3:1? If California gets the "lower" 10.4:1 compression, what are you bumping it up to for the rest of us? Also, can you quote a price for the complete heads (springs, rockers, guides, valves, etc) assuming we ship our stock heads, you do your work, and return the modded heads to us?

Thanks in advance for all your good work.

Our first SRT500 is running 10.8 cr and making right at 440 rw hp. While I think that is probably OK for most of us that have 93 octane - I think we will bump down our production heads to 10.6 cr. Again - not that we have to do this, but I just want to be a bit conservative. The power gain will still be 40 rw hp in most cases. We will dyno the CA setup and I suspect we will still see over 35 rw hp.

Let me work on the numbers and see what I can do for a group buy price. Again, i wish i could go buy 10 sets of core heads from mopar to minimize turnaround time. but they are not selling them anytime soon from what i hear.
