Purdy Burnout

Kumho has produced a red-impregnated tire to make your next burnout look really colorful. Check it out:

At $1995 a tire, I think I'll put it towards a GS supercharger and enjoy my burnouts in old-fashioned black and white.

Another thought, if you hold the ESP button down for 10 seconds, do you think it will change the color of your burnout?

So now you should spend good money on bad tires to get a red smoke burnout. Ridiculous.

This isn't supposed to go to normal people. This is strictly for the drift racers. They've been out for a few months, though last I heard they were only going to be for the drivers sponsored by Khumo. I guess if they've put a price on them, that's changed.

According to Automobile, they had to make them available to the general public to homologate them for drifter use. (Who knew drifters had more arcane rules than LeMans scrutineers?) There's one available at TireRack in 255/40YR-17. And the good news? They'll be coming out in blue and yellow soon Too fast, too furious, too stupid.

I concur Rick, though I have to admit, drifting is hard...or at least it would be if those cars weren't so set up.

It looks as if those tires are actually producing cotton candy to me.

I know I would do this in a heart beat if I had the spare cash sitting around!!! I would even have a front brake line lock put in the car to get a picture like that of the Black Magnum SRT-8 completely engulfed by red smoke on the back half!!! I would shoot it at the full 8.2M the Canon allows and make a poster for my garage!!!

So, my good friend is sponsored by Kumho tires for his road racing and I contacted him just now. He sent me some additional info including the press release. They have a blue smoke compound as well!!!!!

This is the comment:
From there the idea blossomed, and Jim Palombo, KUMHO’s senior product chemist, and Gary Bradnick, lead lab technologist, set about looking for a way to make colored smoke. They developed the right mix of chemicals and now have a patent pending for their colorful compound (they’ve also developed a compound that produces blue tire smoke). Following successful testing, KUMHO produced a limited number of the tires.
That was in the press release. Now, he is going to check and see if he can get his greedy hands on some that are in the size of the Mag. I doubt it, but it is worth the try and my garage needs wallpaper....hahaha!!
