Drive what way, NormGarry? I never drive recklessly nor do I drive in an unsafe manner. Yes, I go fast but in this car that is not stretching or exceeding it's capabilities. Nor do I drive fast when in traffic. The SRT8 can loaf whenever it is necessary.
Stop making assumptions.
My problem is that I always end up speeding and sometimes end up driving recklessly.

I'll be on the highway just minding my own business and suddenly people in GTI's, other sport model cars or Nissans suddenly try and test me. Then suddenly, I'm at 122mph just to prove my point.
Especially those goddamn GTI's... You have any idea how many times I end up in a bobbing and weaving race with horrified onlookers because SOMEONE wants to show off their shifting skills???
When I drive a big luxury car with less power, I drive slower and calmer. When I'm in my SRT8, I suddenly become more aggressive.
My plan is not to buy this as a family vehicle with performance but rather a performance vehicle that can haul the family. I think if I was to be replacing the old 300M I would have to compromise and find a 300C w/AWD (dad had one).
It is good to know that they do ok in the winter, as at least I'd have the option to take it out once and a while. Last year we had an exceptionally mild winter with almost no snow...this year, not much...been cold and snowy.
Would be nice to find a really good deal on an older SRT so the cost of ownership is relatively low...minus gas of course. I also need to look into insurance rates where I live...I'm hoping it is reasonable since its still a 4 door sedan.
From what I've read here, it sounds like the SRT has been a pretty reliable vehicle across all years. Is that correct? If I'm looking at a used vehicle is there any areas I should focus on, or questions I should be asking?
Small thing, but can a 2006 play music from an iPhone, either over BT or wired, or do I need to jump up to get something with the MyGig or similar?
Without Mygig, the only way to play music from a phone or MP3 player is to buy an ipaq-chy and pull out your REC radio to install it. It's very easy in fact. Unfortunately, there is no USB interface for generic devices.

That's correct, Norm. Those are your options with the REC NAV head unit vs. a MyGig.
Around 60K the front suspension bushes and end links tend to need replacement, Scotty. My car has been relatively trouble free with just a few TSB's done:
1. Brake rotor scoring - this happened so early in ownership I doubt you'll find one with so few miles that this hasn't been done yet.
2. Transmission TCM harness connector o-ring.
3. Coagulating coolant.
Guys, what was the warranty on the 2010? 3 years or 60000 km? And was there any powertrain beyond that?
Do you think just over $25k would be a good price? 50000 kms, supposedly in show room condition (aren't they all), new tires and brake pads. According to the Canadian Black Book and kbb this seems pretty good. It is at a local-ish used car dealer.
From the limited units I've seen locally it seems even 2006 models are going for close to $20k. Sure would be nice if a vehicle only lost about $5000 in 4 years.
The newer you can afford the better. The only warranty that went beyond 36k miles is an extended warranty that was purchased separately or possibly an emissions warranty although I am not certain of that given your location and jurisdiction. I would suspect it has no OEM transferrable warranty left.

Really, that's what they go for around your area? I wish that was the case up here. There is a private seller up here that wants $20k for a 2006.
I figured this was a pretty good deal because kbb.com says the suggested retail is $32,500 and the trade-in value is $27,650. I figured staying under the kbb.com trade-in value would signify a good price. I guess it all depends on location.
I've checked some of those big Texas auto sites out and this price seemed pretty good compared to them as well.
Oh, and 50,000km is more like 31,000 miles.
