Share your time slips...

We know Need4Speed has gotten into the 12's. What have others done in the SRT-8's?

ESP on or off?

Manual vs. Drive?

Tire Pressure?

Racing Gas? Octane?

Staging? What RPM's

Best run conditions?

Let's share how to get our times down.

Here's mine:

ESP on

Trani in Drive

34 PSI on the rears

93 Octane

No staging

428 ft above sea level, 84 degrees F

So far, my best run, I was trying to press Record on the CamCorder and not so surprisingly I had a terrible reaction time.

1.44 - 13.710 @ 103.99 mph

I tried several other combinations, but my times weren't any better. I need to get the TSB for the trani, since my 06' has a bad hesitation between shifts.

i have not run at the track but i find the shift issue not a problem with ESP off. also, i would think you would get a better launch with ESP off. how much worse were your runs with it off and was the engine cooled down?

Full cool down. With ESP off, I ran a 13.74 with much better reaction times and 60 ft times. I am thinking that the Trani TSB and the GSM mod will help here. I may order the GSM mod Monday to give it a test. I haven't made up my mind on that one yet. I'd also lowered the rear tire pressure to 26 psi, but didn't find my times any better. What I did notice is that heat soak really effects the performance on the SRT-8. Not to overstate the obvious, but this means that during normal driving conditions, our SRT-8's are not at optimal performance. After several runs, the times continued to decline down to 13.99 on the last run. I am thinking that the GSM Mod may help here.

The heat is definitely a problem ....we lost as much as 10whp on the dyno ... let the car do a full cool down, it was back ....

The speed density system takes into account air intake temp, water temp, a/f & Manifold pressure I believe ..... so, if the air intake temps are warm, along with the coolant .... there goes the timing .....

When I get the GSM mod I'll report back on my 60' ft's etc.... but unfortunately, I won't be able to go to the track until October now ..... crappy ....

Btw, what was your 60 ft on those runs ? And which tires are you running in the rear ?

Guy when we dynoed our SRT-8 with esp on and very warm engine (just got off the freeway) dynoed at 338 rwhp, good cool down and esp off led to a 371 hp dyno pull

see dyno video- 2006 Black Stock SRT-8 Dyno
